Carter J. Lackey, 9 months, of Athens, Pa. with his parents by his side passed away on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at Geisinger Medical Center following an extended illness.

He was born on July 29, 2013 in Sayre, Pa., the son of James and Brittany Baggerly Lackey.

Carter loved playing with his big sister, Alayna, their dogs and any toy he could get his hands on.

He is predeceased by his paternal great-grandmother, Marion Scott Lackey; maternal great-great-grandparents, Herb and Marilyn Swingle; and maternal great-great-grandfather, Ira Cole.

Carter is survived by his parents, James and Brittany Lackey of Athens, Pa.; sister, Alayna Lackey of Athens, Pa.; paternal grandparents, Debbie Lackey and Earl Schnautz of Elmira and Steve Lackey of Beaver Dams, N.Y.; maternal grandparents, Dale and Kati Baggerly of Waverly, N.Y., and Jenny and Mark Davidovich of Athens, Pa.; paternal great-grandparents, Annie and Elmer Mathews of Elmira, N.Y.; maternal great-grandparents, John and Ruth Baggerly of Sayre, Pa., Tom and Joyce Stirrat of Athens, Pa., and Jim and Patti Cole of Sayre, Pa.; maternal great-great-grandmother, Mary Cole of Waverly, N.Y.; aunts and uncles, Becky and Matt Lambert of Chemung, N.Y., Cody Baggerly of Ulster, Pa., Carlie Simpson of Athens, Pa., Katelyn Baggerly of Waverly, N.Y., Dylon Baggerly of Waverly, N.Y., Lily Baggerly of Waverly, N.Y., and Leland Reed of Waverly, N.Y.; cousins, Ryan and Brody Lambert.

Friends and family may call from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, May 2, 2014 at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main St., Athens, Pa. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Scott Lowmaster of Glad Tidings Christian Life Church officiating.

Burial will be in Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens, Pa.

dearest Carter, We prayed for God to let you stay but he missed you so he took you home to be with him. while you wait for the whole family to join you. you sure put upfight like a big God filled Boy. in the short time you were here you made us love you and we are so proud of you. i hope that mommy and dad and the whole family realized that the short time they had you there faith grew even stronger. sad? yes we are so sad but a life with Jesus is a wonderful life you never have to see the terrible things happening in this world. your playmates are other angels that have been taken to heaven to wait for there families. we all will miss our little Cartr .chase butterflies and play catch the rainbows, you never need to feel sad because when we all get there where you are you will get heavy hugs and kisses from all the many lives that youve touched in your short stay with us. God please give mommy and daddy and all the grandparents alot of extra strenght to deal with out there carter. great grampa and gramma will need help too. be happy Carter we love you. in Jesus name the howards Jody,linda, and dick your friends in christ.
