1981 - 2016
It is with profound sadness that Casey's family announce his passing on August 28, 2016. Best friend and loving husband to Laurin. Loving father of Liam and June. Cherished son of Bill and Susan Wood of Trenton. He will be dearly missed by his many friends and family. Friends are invited to the Pinecrest Visitation Centre, 2500 Baseline Road, Ottawa, for a memorial reception on Friday, September 2 from 1 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. For those who wish, memorial donations can be made to the Hospice at Maycourt.

News travels slowly sometimes. I have only recently become aware of Casey's untimely passing. His family may never see this post and that saddens me very much. Casey played ball for me at UOttawa for a number of years and was the team captain the last two of them. What a player, Casey pitched, played catcher, first base and third base. An accomplished hitter he batted 3 or 4 in the order and was in every game. My favourite story about Casey occured in a game which took place in the Sky Dome in Toronto against Brock University. Casey hit a mighty line drive down the left field line and thinking it had cleared the wall went into his home run trot. He was not a fast runner. The ball bounced off the outfield wall and Casey barely made it into second base safely. I remember meeting his mom and dad at a game in Kingston, lovely folks. My condolences to the family especially his wife and children. Terry Hierlihy ( one time coach UOttawa GeeGees baseball.)

Dear Laurin, Liam, and June;
I've just recently been informed of Casey's passing. I am so incredibly sorry for your loss. I have fond memories of your family from my time caring for Liam and June. It was clear how much love there was in your family between the four of you. Casey was such a kind and funny soul. I remember Casey would always come in the room dancing whenever I had music on for the children.
I know Liam and Junebug looked up to him dearly. I hope they remain resilient and grow up knowing the love Casey had for them.

Casey was a very kind and warm person who had a wicked sense of humor. He cherished and loved his wife and children and was very proud of them. He shared his knowledge and would help all of his colleagues without hesitation. He will be missed. Love to his family especially Lauren and Liam and June.
