Cassandra Ward Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Sep. 20 to Sep. 21, 2011.
Cassandra DeValle Lloyd Ward
Wake Forest
On October 17, 1959 God rolled back his heavenly clouds and shared his enormous love with us through the life of Cassandra DeValle Lloyd Ward. With grace and dignity she courageously battled breast cancer, however, on September 15, 2011 God sent his angels to bring her home for eternal rest.
She attended Williamston High School and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education from Saint Augustine's College. While attending St. Augustine's College, Cassandra was a member of the college choir and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
Her time at St. Augustine College, not only prepared her with the tools to influence the lives of many others, it provided her an opportunity to meet the love of her life, Everett Blair Ward.
Cassandra began her career in education fulfilling her dream by teaching at Tuttle Community Center. She would later be employed at Youngsville Elementary, Henry Adams Elementary, Dillard Drive, and Forest Pines Elementary.
She was a member of Davie Street Presbyterian Church, USA, where she was the Chairman of the Deacon Board; member of the Presbyterian Women's Circle II and the Chancel and Women's Choirs. Her other affiliations included being a Silver Soror of the Alpha Theta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., of which she served on and chaired many committees. She was also an Archousa of Gamma Sigma Boule of Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity and a member of the North Carolina Association of Educators. She annually coordinated the "Cassandra's Angels" Walk Team for the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.
To cherish her memory is her husband Everett B. Ward, Wake Forest, NC; parents Johnnie and Mary Lloyd, Williamston, NC; her brothers Johnnie Lloyd, Jr. (Deborah), Clinton, MD, and Jarvis "Deno" Lloyd, Raleigh, NC; a sister Crystal Williams (Marvin), District Heights, MD; a mother-in-law, Dorothy Ward, Raleigh, NC, a sister-in-law Felecia Hardy (James), Raleigh, NC.
She is also survived by a host of relatives and friends and her very special aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 22, 2011, First Baptist Church, 101 S. Wilmington Street, Raleigh, NC. Visitation 11:00 am; Funeral Service 12:00 Noon.
Services entrusted Lightner Funeral Home, Raleigh, N.C.

There are no words that can express our sympathies for your loss. Cassandra was an amazing woman and educator. She taught one of our twins at FPDE. Everett and the Lloyd family, I am deeply sadden by the lost of your beloved Cassandra. "Unto Him who will keep you, may He grant consolation and joy to those who mourn and give them an ornament, a diadem of beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning. The garment expressive of praise for a spirit of heaviness and a burdened and failing spirit -- that they may be called oaks of righteousness, lofty, strong, and magnificent...that He may be gloried. May our Lord Jesus Christ Himself and God our Father, who loved us and gave His life for us, comfort and encourage your heart and strengthen you in every good work and word until He comes.
