Catherine Jane Leasure was called to her Eternal Home Feb. 20, 2010.

She was born April 9, 1924 in Byesville, Ohio, to Clyde G. and Myrtle M. Forshey. She was a graduate of Elk Rural High School in Harriettsville, Ohio. Catherine married her loving husband, Vernon on April 11, 1942. This marriage brought forth five children, nine grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Her life was guided by the love of God, being a life long member of the Church of Christ, the love of family, and the love of children. Scores of neighborhood children affectionately called her "Grandma" and eagerly anticipated her cakes, pies, and cookies. Many a heavy heart was lifted by her words of encouragement, many a friend supported by her empathy, and many a forelorn soul uplifted by her quick wit.

She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Vernon of Mogadore; children, Roger (Pauline) Leasure of Cuyahoga Falls, Rodney (Valerie) Leasure of Flower Mound, Texas, Kay Voorheis of Mogadore, Joseph (Erin) Leasure of Warren, and Brenda (Antonio) Catalano of Randolph; grandchildren, Carl Leasure, Cissie Morrice, Sayra White, Jennifer Voorheis, Michelle Chastain, Nicole Leasure, Allegra, Brogan, and Anthony Catalano. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Samuel Forshey; sisters, Verna Crock and Marjorie Coultrap and precious granddaughter, Caitlin Leasure.

"Finally Brethern, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report If there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy think on these things." (Phillipians 4:8)

Friends may call on Tuesday, 3 to 7 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., where a funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, 11 a.m. with Vernon Teagarden officiating.
