Catherine Maddox Obituary
A funeral service will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Maddox Funeral Home conducted by The Rev. Frederick R. Trumbore. Burial will be private.
Cathy was born May 7, 1951, in Front Royal, daughter of Charles Raymond Maddox, Jr. and Elaine Barraclough Maddox.
She graduated from Warren County High School in 1969. She attended the Cappa Chell School of Modeling in Washington, D.C. and became a model for Miller & Rhodes and Thalhimers in Richmond. She was a secretary for the legal office of Gulf & Western, Inc. at the Watergate in Washington, D.C. in 1971. She was a flight attendant for American Airlines in New York City in 1973. She then attended the Weiss-Barron School of Television and Commercial Speech and the Ford Modeling Agency. She was a representative for Estee Lauder at Garfinkel's Department Store in Washington, D.C. Since 1994 she worked in the over-the-road transportation industry as a long haul truck driver. She was an active member of the Humane Society of the United States since 2010.
Surviving are her three brothers, Charles E. Maddox and his wife Martha, Arthur R. Maddox and his wife Sharon, and William G. Maddox and his wife Brenda; her nieces and nephews, Kyle, Mary, Laura, Joseph, and Perry; seven great nieces and nephews; and her aunt and uncle, Betty Belle and Doug Leckie.
The family will receive friends on Saturday from 7:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 W. Cork St., Winchester, VA 22601 or to the Humane Society of the United States, 2100 L St., NW, Washington, D.C. 20037.

Catherine was the epitome of what a friend should be.
She is thought of so very often, even after these passing years.
I was honored to be with her in San Antonio and then drive her back to the big red truck, she adored.

I was in elementary school E.Wilson Elementary and lived on Prospect Street across from Cathy and she was 10 years older than me but she played with me every day for several years and after school we would watch dark shadows we made a haunted house in her screened in porch .Cathy was my best friend and even though I was to young to understand romance I loved her as much as a child could love anyone Cathy rose to the top of the page and accomplished many things.she could do anything she set her mind too and was my heroine

I often think of Cathy, especially when I see a big red semi on the road. She became an inspiration to me and memories of her from the 60's until now make me smile. She truly had her own spirit and she assured me when I pass she will be the angel on my right side to take me home...I truly miss her......

To the Maddox Family, My thoughts and prayers go out to all of you as I remember the Maddox family very well but moved from Front Royal in 1972 after my Father's passing. I pray that our Father in heaven holds her and family and friends tightly in His arms,gives peace and comfort as you celebrate her life here on earth. iam so sorry i missed her funeral, she was a great friend to me we have known each other for years we met thru her trucking travels and talked many times on the cb and the phone. i will miss her terriable she was a great person. would do anything for you if you needed help. and i am sure she touched many lives out on the road of her travels. she will be missed by them also.

Catherine was such a free spirit and I admired that about her. She always spoke her mind but if she was your friend, you never had to question her loyalty. Arthur and Sharon your care for Cathy was an act of love, foy you, Bill, Charlie and families my heartfelt sympathy. Cathy certainly was one of the strongest individuals I have ever known and has inspired myself and so many others throughout her illness from the day I first learned of it until last we spoke and I viewed her post.
