CIRILLO, LOUIS J. "CHI-CHI" 85, of High Street passed away at his home with his loving family by his side, on August 24 after a long battle with heart disease. Born on August 6, 1929 to Louis and Marguerite L. (Lemaire) Cirillo, he was a lifelong resident of Bristol. He was the husband of Dorothy A. (Keane) Cirillo. His first wife, Josephine M. (Alfano) Cirillo passed away in 1981. He graduated from Colt Memorial High School in 1947 and served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War aboard the USS Everett F. Larson (DD830). During the 1950s and 1960s he owned and operated the former Alfano's Super Market on Prospect Street. He later became the Maintenance Superintendent of the Rhode Island Veterans Home, retiring from that position in 1990. He was a 59 year member of the Bristol Volunteer Fire Department, joining the Dreadnaught Company in 1955 and was a founding member of the Department's Engine 4 in 1957. Besides his wife, he is survived by his children Louis P. Cirillo (Susan) of Bristol, Paul A. Cirillo (Patricia) of Warren, Norma C. Floyd (Ira) of DelRio, Texas; stepchildren Mark J. Simmons of Newport, and Jo-Ann and Michael P. Simmons (Patricia) of Attleboro, Mass.; grandchildren William D., Paul A. Jr., and Bryan M. Cirillo, Sara M. Morrison, Meghan L. and Garett M. Simmons and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Ralph E. Cirillo. He was the brother of the late Norma M. Cirillo who died in infancy. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 30 from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood St., Bristol at 9:00 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Church, 330 Wood St. at 10 AM. Burial with Military and Bristol Fire Dept. Honors will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Friday, August 29 from 4 to 8 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Firemen's Memorial and Welfare Committee, P. O. Box 775, Bristol, RI, 02809. Chi Chi has been a dear friend ever since our elementary school days. I will certainly miss him, especially at future meeting of our class reunion committee meetings. He was a good and religious man and I am sure that the good Lord greeted him and led him through the pearly gates
