Catherine Seay Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 2, 2025.
Catherine Elizabeth Seay, known to family and friends as Kay, passed away on November 29, 2024 at Merrimack County Nursing Home surrounded by family at the age of 90.

Kay was born on December 8, 1933 in Stamford, Connecticut in the Old Cove Mills to John and Catherine (Hoyt) Robushi where she attended local schools. After spending her early adult years in Connecticut, where she became a mother of two, she relocated to New Hampshire in 1968 and later welcomed two more children into her family.

Kay was an avid reader and had a deep appreciation for nature and the simple joys of life. She adored cats and had a special love for birds, especially Hummingbirds. A loyal Red Sox fan, Kay rarely missed a game. Though she didn't often get back to the ocean, it remained one of her favorite places of calm and joy throughout her life.

Kay's Catholic faith remained quietly important to her; she prayed the Rosary every night with unwavering devotion. In her later years, she embraced lifes slower pace with grace, resiliency, and a quiet strength. She found joy in the simple pleasures of watching her beloved Hummingbirds from her favorite chair and cherished time spent with family and friends. Known for her gentle heart and a spirited feisty nature, Kay also had a fondness for the color purple, which reflected her warmth and character.

Kay is survived by her three daughters: Cathy Light, of Bridgeport, Connecticut; Kristie Seay, of St Joseph, Missouri; and Jennifer Seay, of Boscawen, New Hampshire. She is also survived by four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, one niece, and countless friends.

Kay was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, her first husband, with whom she had two children, her only son, Dennis Light, who passed just months before her, and her second husband, who shared many loving years with her.

The family would like to extend its heartfelt thanks to the staff at Merrimack County Nursing Home for their exceptional care and kindness.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the SPCA or The Audubon Society, reflecting on her lifelong love of animals and the natural world.

A graveside service will be held on October 18th at 11 a.m. at Calvary Cemetery in Concord, New Hampshire.

She will be deeply loved and missed everyday.

Avé Maria, gratia plena

As she wished, these sacred words accompany her now in peace.
