Cathy Smith

After a very long battle with cancer, Cathy is now at peace knowing that she fought as hard as she could for a span covering more than 30 years. She leaves behind her partner of 35 years, Donna Cater, and her very good friends Colleen & Nikita Walker, whom she lived with as she helped raise Nikita.

Cathy had many different groups of friends but her friendship with her "loser" baseball ladies was one that she cherished deeply. This group of friends have been meeting once a month since the 90's.

Cathy loved baseball and basketball - playing both - and then coaching baseball. Truth be told it was probably the social time after each sport that she enjoyed most.

Cathy was a true inspiration to all that met her. She overcame every obstacle that was in her way until that last obstacle proved to be too much. Her humour and kindness will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her. She leaves behind quite a legacy.

Many thanks to all the doctors and PSWs that were so instrumental in Cathy's care.

As per Cathy's wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers a donation made in her memory to a charity of her choice would be greatly appreciated. Cathy would love nothing more than people sharing stories and laughter because we know that everyone has a "Cathy" story.
