Cathy Vanderlin Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Dec. 27 to Dec. 30, 2008.
Cathy (Cronkleton) Vanderlin died Thursday, December 18, 2008, at Central Washington Hospital, Wenatchee. Cathy was born to Dr. Thomas and Wilma Cronkleton in Davenport, IA on March 22, 1964. She graduated from Laramie High School (Laramie, WY) in 1982, and from the University of Puget Sound (Tacoma, WA) in 1986, with honors in economics and languages. While at UPS, she met Andrew Vanderlin; they were married February 27, 1988. They lived in Federal Way, where Cathy worked for Weyerhaeuser until 2006. They moved to Wenatchee in 2005, and in March of 2006, Cathy began working for Stemilt Growers as a Business Analyst. She always enjoyed learning, earning many awards in the process. In spring of 2008, she passed the Certified Business Intelligence Professional Mastery Level Credential exams. Cathy had an especially strong love for her family and enjoyed visiting with them during annual Thanksgiving gatherings. Cathy was delighted when family came to Wenatchee to visit, and their visits were high points of the year. Cathy and Andrew both enjoyed tandem bicycling, including touring with groups or family. She enjoyed traveling and camping. The landscaping of their new home in Wenatchee, became a major interest. She enjoyed music, going to many concerts in Wenatchee. Surviving family members include her husband, Andrew of Wenatchee; her mother, Wilma Cronkleton of Kansas City, MO; brothers, Father Thomas Cronkleton of Cheyenne, WY, Kevin (Michelle) of Wichita, KS, Robert and Richard (Suzy) all of Kansas City, MO, Phillip of Lincoln, NE; sisters, Margaret Cronkleton and Susan (Chris) Sicoli, all of Kansas City, MO; and in-laws, Orville and Roberta Vanderlin of Wenatchee, WA; and Jennifer (Michael Rudd) of Klamath Falls, OR. She also has several nieces and nephews. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Wenatchee, Tuesday, December 30, 2008, at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cancer Care of North Central Washington, 1708 Castlerock Avenue, Wenatchee. Arrangements are under the direction of Telford's Chapel of the Valley, East Wenatchee. We are diminished.

I met Cathy while working at Weyerhaeuser. She was a member of a very special morning exercise group. While we all shared our fitness goals, it was really the friendship and comaraderie in the girls locker room that will always have a special place in my heart. Thank you for your caring, smiles and wonderful laughter Cathy ! You will truly be missed !
My heartfelt sympathies to your family and friends. May they find peace in our Lord's grace and love.

Words are inadequate at a time like this. I send my love and prayers to Andrew, his family and Cathy's family. I was blessed to have met Cathy as a co-worker in 2003 and to have continued the friendship through an informal dinner group we established. I am so thankful that on her most recent trip to the Seattle area in early December the five members of our group were all present and shared a wonderful evening of food and fun. Cathy lived life fully, balancing work and home. She was intelligent, thoughtful and sincere. And she maintained a positive attitude always sharing her wonderful, engaging smile with others. I will miss her dearly!

My sincere condolences and prayers go out to Andrew, Cathy's family, and Andrew's family for the lose of a beautiful person. My heart goes out to you at this time and in the days ahead. Cathy was a brilliant and caring person. She was also someone that brought people together and kept friendships alive. I am inspired to attempt to keep her traditions of friendship and caring alive by continuing that spirit. God be with you all.

My sincere condolences go out to Andrew, Cathy's family, and Andrew's family. Cathy was a sincere and special friend of mine. At work, whenever we would go to visit one another in our cubicles, it was a definite need to bring tissues! We had this special talent of getting each other to cry! Sometimes tears of joy and sometimes tears of frustration! But it always made us feel better and we would end up laughing in the end!
