LCDR Cecil E. Jones, Jr., age 83, of Knoxville, passed away on Monday, July 7, 2015 at Tennova North Hospice after a brief battle with cancer. On September 8, 1931, Cecil was born in New Bedford, Massachusetts to his late father, Cecil E Jones and the late Elizabeth F (White) Jones. He proudly served in the United States Navy for over twenty-two years retiring as Lieutenant Commander in 1970. As a recovering addict with sobriety of over 30 years, he was an active member in Alcoholic Anonymous. He was especially passionate about helping other addicts work the Twelve Step Program to maintain their own sobriety doing this up until the day he passed.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth F. Jones and his father, Cecil E. Jones; his cousin Alice Pauline Jones; and two beloved children, James Michael Jones and Belinda Nannette Cribben. Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Margaret (Mickey) Chase, Vicki S. Pointer and son in law, Jim E Pointer, Jr.; and his son Christopher B. Jones and daughter in law, Jody Jones; eleven grandchildren and six great grandchildren; two sisters, Zenda Connerly, Jeanice Jones; and brother Ralph Jones (Fay Jones).

A memorial ceremony will be celebrated on Thursday July 9, 2015 at East Tennessee Veterans Cemetery at 9:30 a.m. at 2200 E. Governor John Sevier Highway, Knoxville, TN 37920. Honoring Cecil's wishes, his ashes will be placed alongside his son, James Michael Jones, in Norfolk, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: American Cancer Society P.O.
