H.L. Rich

H.L. Rich 1930 ~ 2012 H.L. Rich, 81, of Meridian entered into rest on Thursday, March 8th 2012 in Boise Idaho surrounded by family and friends. He was born July 15th 1930 to Bess Katherine (Roberts) and Andrew James Murray Rich in Parsons, Kansas. Rich had a career in the U.S. Army and retired after 22 years of service. He served in Korea, and two tours in Vietnam. He taught ROTC at Washington State University after returning from his last tour. His transition to civilian life, after retiring in from the Army in 1972, was by teaching ROTC at Capitol High School for several years. H.L. was employed with I C P Construction Supply in Nampa ID, for several years following his years at Capitol High. He married Mary Lee (Sutton) in 1973, bringing his sons Larry James, and Terry Michael into this union. His hobby of wood crafting began in his garage with a table saw. He started out making picture frames for home, then many requests came from others for the beautiful work he did. He then became partners in wood crafting with friend and neighbor Ronald Dickman and they built a shop to do their work and passion. The two spent many years together building beautiful wood crafted projects; both our homes are filled with many beautiful pictures, cabinets and tables that these two best friends made together. H.L. was preceded in death by his mother, father, a half-brother Robert Gardner, a half-sister Joann Dexter all of Missouri. He is survived by his wife Mary Lee of Meridian, son Larry James (Tami) and grandsons Keaton and Calvin Rich of Boise ID, son Terry Michael of Boise and son Barry F. of Scottsdale AZ, sister Donna Wagner (Paul) of Missouri and nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life is to be shared with family and friends at Meridian Methodist Church, 240 E. Pine Ave. Meridian Idaho, Friday March 16th at 11:00 a.m. followed by a luncheon at the Family Life center, next to the church. Inurnment will be at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery, Boise. Services are under the direction of Accent Funeral Home, Meridian. Remembrances may be left for the family at www.AccentFuneralHome.com. In lieu of flowers the family request donations to the Meridian Methodist Church debt fund or charity of choice.
