Cecile Furlong Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 2, 2024.

Cecile Ann Furlong, 62, of Framingham, MA passed away peacefully on December 1, 2024 after many years of physical and neurological decline inflicted on her by early-onset dementia. Born on April 21, 1962 in Boston, Ceil was the daughter of the late Ann (Desmond) and James Furlong. Ceil attended nursing school at Framingham Union and later received her BSN from UNH. Shortly after beginning her life as a nurse and loving mother, Ceil moved to Bradford, VT to raise her daughter surrounded by the Green Mountains that she loved. Despite the physical distance during these years, Ceil prioritized maintaining close and loving relationships with her family members. She enjoyed creating connections with people and was known for her kind, generous and open spirit. Ceil was an avid outdoors person and loved spending time in nature, camping, hiking, canoeing, skiing and biking. Ceil was a dedicated nurse. She cared deeply for her patients and provided them with genuine warmth and care. She spent many years of her nursing career working with the Good Neighbor Health Clinic in WRJ providing invaluable resources and compassion to the community. In 2012, Ceil was the recipient of the Schweitzer Leadership Award for her commitment to providing accessible healthcare to the medically underserved and uninsured of the Upper Valley.

Ceil is survived by her daughter Michelle Santos, father James Furlong, sister Suzanne Mueller, brother Jim Furlong and wife Kate, sister Michelle Luz and husband John and her many nieces and nephews-Michael, Jack, Stephen, Jillian, Timothy, Gregory, Catherine and Sean-who remained by her side providing loving care and comfort in recent years. She was also predeceased by many beloved pets over the years and was known for being a lover of all living creatures.

A celebration of life service will be held at the St. Patricks Manor Holy Family Chapel in Framingham, MA at 10:00am on Wednesday, December 4, 2024. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Good Neighbor Health Clinic, 70 North Main St., White River Junction, VT, 05001 or St. Patrick's Manor, 863 Central St., Framingham, MA 01701.

Suzanne, I also got to know you and your sister for a short time through Continuing Connections. I will always remember her wonderful joyful laugh and bright smile. Your deep love for each other showed in all you did to ease her way on her journey. Ceil and I shared a love for Snoopy and I still think of her when I see his image. Hoping you and your family will find strength and peace in her memories, Leslie and Ed Fleischer

Suzanne, I got to know you and your sister for a short time through Continuing Connections. You were a great role model as a caregiver. I'll always remember your patience and how you knew what would make Ceil happy - remembering Snoopy in particular - and spending time with her outdoors as much as possible. I'll keep you and your family in my prayers.

I am sorry to hear of your loss of Cecile. I grew up around the corner and have many fond memories, one being our dog shows. Cecile had her own pup and the rest of us would run to neighbors to take their dog for the day. We would spend hours playing in her side yard, setting up obstacles for us and the pups.
My mother Ann remembers her as a kind and lovely young lady.
Sending blessings from me and my family.

Dear Big Jim, Suzanne, Jim, Michelle and Michelle,
My heartfelt condolences. Ceil will be missed. She was the best of us. It doesn't seem possible that those days when we were all little, running through each others backyards and up and down Dana, Sunset & Lockland, are as long ago as they are now. I will always remember "The Bumbashoot", that Cadillac, Flashlight tag.first jobs at Mr. Donut and the way our families gathered in times of happiness ......and now sadness. I remember Ceil and Debby playing "Folk Mass" guitar downstairs at St Bridget's.

Now, even though I am on the other side of the planet, these memories of Ceil and "us" stay with me and connect us forever. Be strong for each other and speak of her often (I know you will) and keep her bright smile and tender spirit forever in your hearts. Sending lots of Love, John Halpin
