Cecily Grable Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 21, 2024.
On Sunday January 7th, 2024, Cecily (Alexander) Grable passed away at the age of 85 in West Hartford CT. Cecily grew up in Newton, MA alongside her two brothers, Jonathan Alexander and the late Gus Alexander. She attended Newton High School and Goucher College and then worked as a research assistant in Beth Israel Hospital in Boston. There, she met her husband, the late Dr. Ernest Grable. They had 2 children together, 12 years apart. She then had a very fulfilling career as a nurse, often working by her husband's side at Newton Wellesley Hospital. When not in the operating room, they were passionate about sailing, and many of their friends were fellow sailors. After the passing of her husband, Ernest, she continued to explore her hobbies and passions, taking dance classes, volunteering in schools to help teach children to read, and sailing as the Captain of the Quintessence with some of her most cherished friends. Cecily Grable is survived by Dr. Ian Grable and his wife Janet Grable of Chicago, IL and Dr. Phyllis Grable-Esposito and her husband Chris Esposito of West Hartford, CT, grandchildren, Nathan Grable and Hannah Grable of Chicago, IL and Elora Esposito and Jocelyn Esposito of West Hartford, CT. Cecily's funeral was held on January 9th at Weinstein Mortuary in Hartford, CT. She was buried the following day in Independent Workmen's Circle Cemetery, Baker Street, West Roxbury, MA next to her husband Ernest. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be donated to a charity of your choice. Additional sentiments of well-wishing and memories about the deceased can be shared with the family or online.
