Celestine Carter Obituary

In Loving Memory Of
Celestine Diana Carter
Sunrise: February 21, 1944 – Sunset: January 12, 2011

Celestine Carter was born on February 21, 1944 to Erma Lee Winston and Willie Joe Carter in Los Angeles, CA where she was raised. God called her home on Wednesday January 12, 2011 at the age of 66. She was preceded in death by her parents.

She graduated from Fremont High School in Los Angeles and was an excellent student in all courses. She was also a gifted violinist which influenced her nephew Kevin's interest in the very same instrument.

Celestine held a variety of jobs. One in particular located in San Francisco from where she supplied her sister Erma Rea with the latest chic fashions.

She gave birth to one child Anthony and never had to wear maternity clothes. Some folks have all the luck.

Celestine did not regularly fellowship. But she never forgot her mother's church, Faith Temple C.O.G.I.C. under the leadership of Pastor Mack Trimble, and how those prayer warriors brought her through in the early 90's when doctors said she had only a five percent chance.

More recently she faced another challenge and not alone. Anthony cared for his mom's every need, in her home then in the hospital. Celestine's last days were filled with love for her family and from her family.

Celestine leaves to cherish her memories: one son, Anthony Dewayne and wife Deisha: 5 granddaughters, Lorena Denise Carter, Antasha Erma Carter, Alexis Joyce Carter, Tamera Nelson, Tamya Jones; one grandson, Terrance Cleveland; one sister, Erma Rea Carter; one nephew, Kevin Carter and wife Lerato and their children Zusakhe and Lutendo and a host of cousins, family and friends.
