Chad Chapin Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 8, 2006.
STILLWATER — Chad N. Chapin, 39, of 36 Register Road, died early Friday morning, Oct. 6, 2006, at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, as a result of injuries he received in an automobile accident in Turbot Township, Northumberland County, on Thursday evening.

Born on Dec. 29, 1966, at the Berwick Hospital, he was a son of Donald H. and R. Carol (Hartman) Chapin, Register Road, Stillwater. He was a lifelong resident of Huntington Township, Luzerne County, except for 1989 and 1990, when he resided in White Deer, Union County.

Chad was a 1985 graduate of Northwest Area High School and a 1988 graduate of Williamsport Area Community College.

He was employed as a diesel mechanic and more recently as a lead technician by Penske Trucking Co. and LaBar Trucking Co., at White Deer for more than 20 years.

He was a member of the Town Hill United Methodist Church, Shickshinny.

Chad loved to hunt and fish with his son, his father and his many friends.

He especially enjoyed taking early Sunday morning motorcycle rides into Benton for coffee and to buy a few instant scratch off lottery tickets, as well as visiting with friends along the way.

He enjoyed meeting new people which earned him many wonderful lifelong friends. No one enjoyed a good joke more than Chad did. He always had one like "have you heard the one about the hunter and his hound dog," which was one of his favorites.

Surviving, in addition to his parents, are his wife, the former Tammy D. Erdley of Lewisburg, with whom he celebrated their 14th wedding anniversary on July 11; one son, Travis T. Chapin, at home; one stepson, Kyle C. Erdley of Lewisburg; one sister and brothers-in-law, Donnalee C. and Brad R. Beach of Fairfax Station, Va.; one niece, Alyssa D. Beach and one nephew, Ryan M. Beach, both of Fairfax Station, Va. Also surviving Chad is his faithful hound dog companion, Fred.

There will be no viewing. Friends are invited to visit with the family from noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday at Dean W. Kriner Inc., 30 Two & A Half Street, Benton. The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Mark A. Hagy, pastor of his church, officiating.

Burial will be in New Columbus Cemetery.

I'll miss you Chad, the way you always picked on me for spilling the deviled eggs at Thanksgiving, for not being able to play PA darts, almost riding my 4wheeler into the pond at your house or for drinking Bud Light. You were always there for a hug or a joke to make me laugh when I needed it the most. You will forever be in my heart, especially when I look at the boys. I will continue to watch out for them and Tam, as they miss you deeply. This isn't good-bye, it's see ya down the road, keep the beer cold up there and save some for me!
Your favorite sister-in-law,
Renee
