Charlene Crow Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jul. 9 to Jul. 10, 2004.
Oct. 19, 1928 - July 4, 2004
Charlene Alice (Deadmond) Crow, 75, was born Oct. 19, 1928, in Walterville, Ore. She died July 4, 2004, in St. Louis.
After growing up in the Lane County area, Charlene married Richard E. "Dick" Crow, her high school sweetheart, on May 6, 1945. In 1953, Charlene and Dick decided to move to territorial Alaska. Dick flew up first and Charlene, impatient to join him, packed up their car with her three children and drove up the Alcan Highway. Charlene and Dick settled in Anchorage and raised their children.
In 1971, Charlene became a Christian and remained an active member in her church as long as she was able. Charlene also enjoyed reading and gardening.
Charlene was her husband's co-pilot for many years, and became a private pilot herself in Alaska in 1985. After Dick's retirement in 1986, Charlene and Dick moved from Alaska to Leon, Mexico, to be close to their daughter and help their church's outreach mission.
In 1990, Charlene and Dick moved to Lakeside and lived on North Tenmile Lake in their boat-access-only cabin until moving into Lakeside in 2001. After her husband's death in 2003, Charlene moved to Missouri to live with her daughter, Susan.
Charlene's adventurous spirit was well suited to her and Dick's life choices. They spent many hours flying together in Alaska, the continental United States and Mexico and loved each other with a fierce devotion.
Charlene is survived by her brothers and sisters-in-law, Irl and Jeanne Deadmond, Gary and Donna Deadmond; her three children and their spouses, Richard and Kathi Crow, Michael and Dawn Crow and Susan and Bill Yarbrough; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Although I didn't really know Charlene very well, I am a good friend of Mike's. You famiy has certainly undergone some radical changes over the past 15 months and I know it must be difficult for anyone to no longer have the direct contact with your parents. My prayers are with you all and I'm sure that Charlene is now in heaven with Dick and the Lord with no pain, and no diseases..isn't that wonderful.

Dick & Charlene would eat at the Pancake Mill quite often and to see Mr."Peachie Keen's" face and Charlene was always a delight. I will miss them both but the fond memories will stay with me forever. God Bless you all and they are together with God in paradise.
