Charlene Imholz Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 7, 2024.
On Easter Sunday, March 31st, 2024, Charlene Chiles Imholz passed away peacefully at her sister's home in Tennessee after a battle with liver cancer and Lymphoma. She was 76.

Charlene was born April 4th, 1947 at the Millington Naval Base in Memphis, TN to Jim and Dorothy Chiles. She graduated from Messick High School in 1965. She was a member of the "Twelve Year Club" for students who attended Messick all twelve years. Her mother was a teacher there. She graduated from The University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) in 1969. Charlene embodied that Rebel spirit; pushed herself past her comfort zone and interviewed to become a TWA Flight attendant. The early 70s were the glory days for airline hostesses. She traveled the world and made lifelong friends.

She met her husband Ruedi Imholz on an airplane and they married on October 15th, 1977. While living in California, they had their first child, Haley, October of 1979. After a tragic landslide and loss of their home, the family moved to North Carolina. Here is where Robin and Annaliese were added to the family. The Imholz family was complete.

Charlene fully embraced motherhood. The family moved again to Memphis, TN where she supported her girls in all their passions. Countless dance recitals, choir performances, and many Bellevue Baptist productions. Here they stayed until eventually semi-retiring to Mountain Home Arkansas. Charlene and her husband, Ruedi, were faithful members of Twin Lakes Baptist Church in Mountain Home.

Charlene kept busy with Robin's Special Olympics and bowling league as well as her 6 grandchildren and all their various activities. She was a gifted writer and could turn the messiest hardships into classic comedies. Any story she shared on social media included her kind heart and her quick wit. She not only did social media, but she loved to send traditional mail as well. To receive a card from her brought joy and a genuine sense of belonging. She was always proud of her family and would humbly brag with anyone lucky enough to be on her Christmas letter mailing list.

She was known as Charlie to her fellow flight attendants.

She and her sister Diana were coined as the dynamic duo. When it comes to her love life, many families and friends have referred to it as a fairy tale. As a mother, she never hesitated to put her family first. What a privilege to have her constant sacrifice. And as an Oma, her grandkids knew immediate acceptance and unconditional love from the minute they arrived. Her life was not easy, but she was so strong she made it seem that way. Her life began in the Spring. A time of new life and new beginnings. In the end, she received the ultimate new life on the holiest of days. What a day to be held by Jesus! Easter Sunday 2024! We are left behind with the reservoirs from her springs of life that flowed from her love and her faith. Charlene was one of a kind.

She is preceded in death by Her Father, Jim Chiles. Her Mother, Dorothy Chiles. Her Uncle Billy Lindenmayer. Her husband Ruedi Imholz.

Charlene is survived by her sister Diana Chiles, and Her Daughters Haley Imholz, Robin Imholz and Annaliese (Bret) Mash. Her six Grandkids. Gibson, Haven, Elam, Beau, Everett and Carson.

The family will hold two "Celebration of Life" Services. The first one will be in the Nashville area next Tuesday, April 9th at 3:00 PM. It will be held at Haley's church, New Tribe, at 1279 N Mt Juliet Rd, Mt. Juliet, TN 37122.

The second will be in Mountain Home, Arkansas at the Twin Lakes Baptist Church, on Sunday, April 14th, 3:00 PM. 2645 US-62, Mountain Home, AR

Charlie & I were roommates at TWA training. When I walked into our room, Charlie was sitting on the bed in a muumuu & she had a hair net on her head & Nair all over her face. She said, "Hi, I'm Charlene Chiles & I'm from Memphis, Tn." I thought "OMG". I said, "I'm Janice Byrd & I'm from Spring Lake, NC. Nice to meet you". And began a wonderful life lifelong friendship. We lived together in Newark, LA & moved up to San Francisco. I will miss you, my friend. We had lots of fun together in our lives.
