CHARLES BALDUCCI Obituary
passed away peacefully on December 6, 2015. He was born in Brooklyn on April 24, 1923 and grew up in Corato, Italy. He earned his Doctorate in medicine from the University of Genoa, Italy during World War II. He married in 1948 in New York and joined Flushing Hospital to build his career in pulmonary medicine. He worked until 87 years of age and lectured Flushing Hospital medical students until he was 90. Affectionately known as "Doc," he was an avid cook, gardner, teacher, author, entertainer, hunter and world traveler. He was most proud of his parents, Louis and Maria Balducci, who founded Balducci's in Greenwich Village, NY. Survived by his wife of 24 years, Soja, six living children - Emily Cardone, Louis Balducci, Grace Pratt, Adriana Gailing, Charles Balducci Jr. and Marc Andrew Balducci, 12 grandchildren and one great- grandchild. Sadly his daughter Mary Brennan preceded him in death. Services at Frederick Funeral Home, 192-15 Northern Blvd., Flushing, NY on December 9 and December 10, 2-5 and 7-9pm. Funeral is Friday, December 11, Holy Trinity RC Church, 14-15 143rd St., Whitestone, NY.

We have been informed yesterday by Soja...Families Miscioscia adn Breglia from Salerno, Napoli and Corato always remember Charlie with a smile! I personally met him just once in my life in Corato, he was nephew of my grand dad...I was very happy to have that chance to talk to him and spend a beautiful day with him and Soja in Corato the last time he came to Italy, talking about past times...we all pray for him...with love, to all Balducci Family by Lucia Breglia

Our Deepest Sympathies to the Balducci Family. Dr. Balducci will be missed by all. We are Holy Trinity parishioners and I am a Flushing Hospital employee for over 23 years. I will miss seeing his smiling face as he walked through the hospital with his morning cup of coffee in hand.

He had an unmatched zest for life and loved nothing more than have a large group of people around the table to enjoy a home cooked meal. His home garden was really an organic farm and he was especially proud of the wild arugula seeds he brought over from his hometown of Corato, Italy - over 25 years ago! He was also the best medical diagnostician in his day.
