Charlie was by far my favorite Theatre Organist at Mesa Organ Stop Pizza just a few months before his passing, I made my road trip pilgrimage from Vegas down thru Mesa to hear an evenings concert and made sure he was playing. His love of Holy Liturgy, Americana, and using the organs many ranks of pipes sound like a Cathedral organ at times, bringing many veterans and others at the rows of tables to tears! During the National Anthem and Presentation of The Flag all would rise, remove their hats and Honour The Flag’s Anthem. Charlie’s Spirit lives in all our hearts, his music CD’s and ATOS Theatre Organ Radio, and the souls of all his former coworkers patrons and Arizonians. Amen.

I remember watching Charlie play the organ as a 5 year old at Roaring 20's in Michigan. I had always wanted to attend a concert of his when he would make it back to play the Wurlitzer in the GR public library. I regret that I never got the opportunity. My condolences to his family, and all those who enjoyed his gift of music over the years.

I got to know Charlie in about 1992. I became a friend almost immediately. He came to play the organ that he originally played in Michigan, and I was the LATOS Public Relations Director! I visited him many times at Organ Stop. He once told me that I had brought a lot of people to hear him play, who had never heard a Theatre Organ. I said, "Of Course Charlie, I want them to hear the best.
Charlie, you were a good friend. I wish we had met more often. I will bet that your organ seat was ready for you in heaven, and you are entertaining lots of people, and mightily impressing them!
RIP!

Mr. Balogh played the beautiful Mighty Wurlitzer and made our Air Force relocation to Mesa ok for our six year old son. He wished our son so many Happy Birthdays, most recently at age 17. Mr. Balogh was a big inspiration for our son learning to play piano at age 7 and swinging his left leg Because all great organ players do that!. He is painfully missed and so treasured in this familys heart.
