Gloria Gold Obituary

Gloria F. Gold, a 15-year resident of Royal Palm Beach, Fla., died on Sunday, August 12, 2007 at The Valley View Center for Nursing Care and Rehabilitation in Goshen. She was 81.

The daughter of the late Meyer Markowitz and Minnie Gold Markowitz, she was born on August 11, 1926 in Brooklyn. She was the widow of Donald M. Gold.

Gloria was a retired teacher's aide at P.S. #154 in Queens.

Family statement: "She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved to knit and crochet, and passed that passion to her children and grandchildren. Family was the most important and spending time with her grandchildren was what she loved most. She always made time to help others, whether it was volunteering her time in the PTA in the early years, or giving up her time in the local nursing home in Florida. She loved to socialize with friends and family. She will be deeply missed by her daughters and extended family."

Survivors include her daughters, Bernye Oppenheimer & her husband Lewis of Yonkers, Cindy Tangney & her husband Joe of Chester, and Maida Murphy & her husband Phillip of Chester; sister, Shirley Berman & her husband Carl of Coral Springs, Fla.; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and nieces & nephews.

She was predeceased by her brother, Bernie Markowitz.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, August 16 at 10 a.m. at Cemetery of The Highlands, Highland Mills, with Cantor Elena Schwartz officiating.

Shiva will be observed at the Tangney residence, 103 Booth Road, Chester on Friday, August 17 from 7-9 p.m. and Saturday, August 18 from 1-8 p.m.

As a childhood friend of Cindy and Maida's Ill always remember Gloria as being one of the warmest and friendliest Mom's I knew. She truly loved her family and they were very blessed to have her in their lives. She made one hell of a rugala. My condolences to all of you. I love you all
