Memorial Service for Charles "Chuck" Blevins, 75, of Norman will be 2 p.m., Thursday, January 8, 2009 at First Baptist Church.Mr. Blevins was born August 10, 1933 in McClain County, Oklahoma to Zenomia (Wright) and Remmel Gray Blevins. He passed away January 4, 2009 in Norman.Chuck grew up in Purcell, Oklahoma. On July 4, 1952, he married Johnnie LaDean Pack.He served two years in the Marine Corps and 20 years in the Army with the Army Security Agency. While serving his country, he traveled the world and the United States. He was stationed in Japan, Ethiopia, Korea, and Thailand. He participated in the evacuation of the Nationalist Chinese from mainland China to the island of Taiwan. He was stationed in numerous posts in the U.S.He retired from the Army in 1975. After retirement, he worked for the State of Oklahoma Department of Corrections. He was an active member of First Baptist Church of Norman and served as a bus driver for Friendship International. He also was a member of the Oklahoma Public Employee Association and served several years as a delegate.Chuck deeply loved his wife, children, grandchildren and his church. He was passionate about his country and cared deeply about justice and those in need. He enjoyed fishing, boating, and cheering for the Oklahoma Sooners.He was preceded in death by his father, Remmel Gray Blevins, mother, Zenomia Wright, sisters, Aileen Turnage and Francis Longacre, grandchildren, Julie and Jeremy Blevins and in-laws, O.B. and Lillie Pack.Chuck is survived by his wife of 56 years, Johnnie L. Blevins of the home; daughter, Cindy Blevins of Richmond, Va.; son, Gary Blevins of Lake Frederick, Va.; son, Ron Blevins of Ft. Collins, Colo.; daughter, Lisa Blattenberger of Odenton, Md.; brothers, Doyle Blevins of Paducah Ky., and Gary L. Blevins of Oklahoma City; grandchildren, Robert Blevins, Michael Blevins, Crystal Blevins, Joshua Blevins, Julie Blattenberger, Lily Blevins and Faith Blevins; uncles, Ralph Blevins of Texas, Clifford Wright, Robert Sam Wright and R.C. Wright; 20 nieces and nephews; and will be missed by a host of other family members and many special friends.The family suggests donations be made in Chuck's memory to the Mission Fund of First Baptist Church, 211 W. Comanche, Norman, OK 73069.Arrangements are under the direction of Primrose Funeral Service.Submitted by family

Grandma and Family,

I am so sorry about grandpa and I am sorry that I couldnt make it to the funeral. I love all you guys and I am going to really miss my grandpa. I am going to miss the fishing and the lectures..haha
My grandpa was a GREAT man and he did love his family 100% no matter what. I love u all

Dearest Aunt Johnnie,
I will always Have sweet memories of Uncle Charles Ray...I remember the last time I was there with my kids he took us fishing the kids had a great time. He was one of my favorite uncles. I also remember one year growing up..when my mom had to go to a class for her school in Dallas, and I rode up with her, and took a bus to Oklahoma to stay with ya"ll and she met me there. I remember every summer going to see ya'll. He will be missed, but never forgotten...for he will forever be in my heart, and soul..I love you all..
