Dear Jan and family,
At a time like this, I am hoping that this will cheer you.
A few years ago, while working late, I received an e-mail. It was my
first one from Uncle Chuck. I was so surprised. It would turn out to be
the first of MANY! as most of the family can tell you. Nearly all of us
were on his Buddy List. Just about every evening, I would receive
anywhere from 4 to 7 forwarded messages. I could tell from reading
them, that cousins and friends were making sure that they kept in
contact. You told me that he had taught himself everything on the
computer. Good for him.
Many late evenings I would hear the multiple blings on my computer and
laugh. I knew before looking that he was online. I would drop a line
back occasionally to let him know which ones I was sending on to
members on Jim's side of the family, and why. They could be so
appropriate to a situation. I also would 'test' him with an e-mail sent
just to him. Then I would watch and count the days until it came back
to me. It would usually take about 6 to 7 days. I could look to see how
far the message had traveled and to whom. As he became more ill, his
e-mails became more spiritual and often were 'forwards' including
flowers, love and friendship. These touched me deeply. They were also
of help in a number of situations I was going through, or family
members were going through. So you see, he touched people he never even met.
My friend at work would often ask me why I was laughing, and I would
tell her, "My Uncle Chuck is on line again'. After a while she would say,
'Your uncle must have just sent you something funny.' I would then
either read it to her, or forward it across the office.
I am glad that I was able to be a part of his life in that small way
the past couple years.
With our deepest sympathy and prayers to all the family and friends.

Dear Jan and family,
I was so sorry to hear of Uncle Chuck's passing.
I remember one time when Uncle Chuck was home on leave from the army he came and spent and afternoon at our house. He made fantastic things out of clay for us kids. We were so impressed. I especially remember the tools he made, a hammer and a screw driver among other things. Linda, Guy & I thought they looked REAL! It was a fun afternoon.
May God bless you and comfort each of you.

Jan, I am so sorry for your loss, do you know how much Chuck really loved you? At Mary & Don's party when I talked to him, he just wanted everyone to remember you. I'm so glad you were part of his life.

Chuck, Thanks for being such a great friend of the family. You will be missed by us all. And thanks for the memories up north. McGregor just won't be the same without you.
