Charles Byrum, Sr.

Anderson - Charles Franklin Byrum, Sr., 73, of Anderson passed away on Monday, January 21, 2019 surrounded by his loving family.

Born June 9, 1945 in Iva, he was a son of the late Frank and Willie Edna Chambers Byrum. He was also preceded in death by an infant brother; his sister, Leila Byrum Tiller and brother, Grover Byrum.

Charles retired from Anderson County Solid Waste after 20 years of service. He was a member of Exchange Life Center (formerly Midway Community Church). He was very active in his church, which he loved. He served as a deacon there for 20 years. He loved hunting with his son, Charles, Jr and fishing with his daughter, Tammy. He enjoyed watching train documentaries and was a big Clemson fan.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Barbara Wiley Byrum of the home; son, Charles Byrum, Jr. (Melissa) and daughter, Tammy Byrum Bridges all of Anderson; grandchildren, Morgan Grace and Madison Hope Byrum whom he adored and loved spending time with; also survived by his brothers, Clinton, Ray, Roger, Billy, Bobby and Gerald Byrum; sisters, Louise Daritey and Peggy Hayes and special friends, Butch Morrison, Richard Charping, Linda White and Juanita Wicker.

The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will be in the chapel at 2:00 pm Thursday with Rev. Dan "Butch" Morrison officiating. Interment will follow in Iva City Cemetery.
