Charles Robert Carlin, Sr., 95, a resident of Brunswick, died Wednesday 1/6/10 in the Southeast Georgia Health System, Brunswick. Mr. Carlin was a native and lifelong resident of Brunswick. He attended Glynn Academy and was a member of the Mc Kendree United Methodist Church. He was the owner and operator of the Carlin Welding and Machine Shop in Brunswick since 1936. He is preceded in death by his wife, Winifred F. Carlin, parents, James Henry and Nellie Mae Wells Carlin and a sister, Edith Tipton.

Survivors are two daughters, Mollie Thomas (Ike) of Milledgeville, Ga., and Charlene Vanderbleek (Ray) of Waverly, Ga., two sons, Charles R. "Buddy" Carlin, Jr.(Glenda) of Brunswick, and James H. "Jimmy" Carlin (Jackie)of Waverly, Ga., grandchildren, Charlotte Morgan of Hendersonville, N.C., Jim Thomas, of Rentz, Ga., Carlin Thomas of Madison, Ga., Melanie Beard of Flowery Branch, Ga., Tate Smith of Brunswick, Brian Carlin, Jeffrey Carlin and Jason Carlin all of Brunswick, 14 great grandchildren, and two nieces.

Funeral Services will be held at 1 O'clock Saturday from the Chapel of the Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home with Rev. James E. Crandall officiating. Interment will follow in Palmetto Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be: Cotton Johnson, Tom Whitfield, Ed Cook, Jimmy Shaw, Ron Volz, Carroll Minchew, Penny Smith, and Frank Schell. Honorary pallbearers will be: Dr. A. W. Strickland and Staff, Staff of C.C.U. of the SEGHS, Brunswick Campus, Tommy Horton, Bobby Sapp, Bobby Griner, Billy Wise, Grady Collins, and Jeff Ethridge.

The family requests those wishing make contributions to the Manna House in Brunswick. The family will receive friends in the Funeral Home from 6 to 8 PM Friday.
