Marilyn and family...I'm so sorry to hear of Doug's passing. He was such a fine person. The minister at the funeral talked about his positive attitude and the fact that he never seemed depressed. He was always upbeat. He showed the same courtesy to everyone, regardless of social status or wealth. I and my family will always have fond memories of Doug and we were the blessed ones for having known him.

My heart and prayers go out to the Cash family. Mr. Cash was a very positive influence on my life. I was just sharing some fond memories of him with my fiancé on July 3rd. He was not only my Assistant Principle at THS, but a scuba diving buddy in the early 70’s. His legacy endures in our hearts and minds. He will be missed but not forgotten. Doug and I were born one day apart in October, 1941, and were in the same grades together for six years at Woodrow Wilson Elementary and Ensley High School. What a wonderful career he had as an educator and churchman. I wish I had spent time with him at our 50th Ensley High School Reunion in June. We were true contemporaries and I shall miss him. My condolences to his family.

I learned along with Doug at Ensley High School and haven't seen him since graduation in January, 1960. I also missed him at the 50th EHS class reunion last month. I speek the peace of GOD on him and his family for I know that he will be missed. Remember the GOOD things and GOOD times.

Mr. Cash was a man of integrity for all of
his students and teachers. Now that I am
a music teacher, I understand some of his
decisions and words. I am glad to have known
him at Winfield High School. My prayers go out to Mrs. Cash, my
favorite French teacher, and to my classmate
Valerie, who is always remembered for her
kindness and laughter. God's blessings on
you all.

I am doubly grateful to have experienced him as one who gave good spiritual guidance through his work and life in the church. To the Cash Family,
On June 26th over a hundred of Doug's classmates from high school met to celebrate our graduation from high school 50 years ago. I understand that Doug postponed his surgery so that he could be with us for that special occasion. Many of us had an opportunity to visit with Doug, wish him well and offer prayers as he approached surgery two days later. We are deeply saddened at your loss and pray that God will hold you close as you face the future without Doug.
God bless you.

To the Cash Family:
I am sorry to hear about Mr. Cash's passing. He was a very strong influence in my high school years. I completely trusted him, and he trusted me. That is an important thing to feel from a principal. He shaped my life and was my biggest influence in my educational years at Talladega High School. I truly enjoyed talking with him at our Class of 1980 Class Reunion. I was thrilled that he remembered me and my younger sister, Rosemary. Again, I am very saddened about his death. Your family is in my prayers.

To the Cash Family,

Mr. Cash was one of my best teachers and friends in my school experiences. I had him for history and english at Tuscaloosa Jr. High and also saw him most days at Tuscaloosa High School. Mr. Cash was such a fun and respectable role model and taught us all so much. I am deeply saddened he is leaving us so soon but I'm sure he will do great things in heaven as he has here with all of us. What a privilege it has been to know him in my younger life and anyone who has ever met him will always remember him in a fond and respectful way. God bless all of you as you grieve your loss.

Sincerely,

Becky Hulsey Satterfield
