Charles Ronald Cook, 83, of Ennis, Texas, passed away on Thursday, August 15, 2024, at Legend Oaks after a two-year battle with Lewy Body Dementia. Ron was born on the family farm in Hockley County June 17, 1941, to Leola and A.H. Cook. He attended Smyer Elementary School and graduated with the class of 1959 at Hereford High School. Ron attended Texas Technological College graduating in 1965. He was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. At Tech he met Loretto Jones on a blind date and they married five months later in Clovis, New Mexico. The couple settled on the family farm in Smyer, Texas where Ron farmed cotton. In 1969 the family moved to Hansford County, and Hutchinson County. They lived in Gruver, Pringle and Spearman where Ron farmed and ranched. Other than work, Ron had a great love of the mountains in New Mexico and Colorado. He loved trout fishing and getting away from the heat. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Joe Bertram. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Loretto, of Ennis, daughters Stacey Aloise (Anthony), Melbourne, Florida, Shelly Schadegg (Ron), Orlando, Florida, Michelle Kaman (Tony), San Antonio, and Mary Catherine Kotara (Stan), Lubbock. Grandchildren Lindsey Schadegg Lindberg (Zack), Jacob Schadegg, Sam Kaman, Catherine Kaman, Jonas Kaman, Emily Kaman, Kellen Kotara and Cole Kotara. Sister and brother-in-law Jeanette and J.B. Hampton, Bartlesville, Oklahoma and brother, Lynn Cook of Amarillo. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made Spearman Scholarship Fund, P. O. Box 492, Spearman, Texas 79081 or a charity of your choice. A Celebration of Life with Graveside services are planned for October 5, 2024, 11:00 a. m. at Hansford Cemetery. Immediately following everyone is invited to a buffet reception and visitation at the R. L. McClellan Room, Gordons Fountain in Spearman.
