I appreciate Charlie's work and effort toward the most forgotten in prison. His service in the midst of his disability was a testimony in itself that everyone can be used by Christ. I often would sit there and catch one of the inmates watching Charlie, and I knew his testimony was not only in his words, but in his actions. I consider it my privilege to have known Charlie, and to have served with him. I have no doubt that he was welcomed warmly in to Heaven. My prayers for his family. Thank you for sharing Charlie with us in the Kairos ministry." God Bless, Mike O'Grady

Sue, I want to thank you for introducing me to Charlie. I thank God for his life and being able to have him as a friend. I will always think of him when I'm working on one of the pieces of wood he cut out for me to paint or when I look at the wonderful wood creations you and he made together. I always got a kick out of how fired up Charlie would get, talking about woodworking projects and thoroughly enjoyed our discussions. At first glance, most people would see Charlie as a simple, sweet man of God...and he was, but he also had layers-passions and feelings that would spill out when he talked about future plans for wood projects or a new way to make something. I will miss him. I'm betting he's up in heaven, scouting out which room in God's mansion Sue would like to share with him for the rest of his true life. Praying for peace, comfort, and strength for you, Sue.

For a quiet man you sure could pack a punch when you had something to say. I'll miss your wisdom and someone who shared my views on both faith and nation. Your cross and Jesus picture proudly hang on our walls - as they do so many others. I'm sure you're busy building on rooms in heaven for the rest of us.

I so enjoyed visiting with Charlie about scrolling, fishing and problems with my air conditioner. He was always so willing to help in any way he could. We all will miss him dearly. Such a great guy. Bob Murry

Sue, we send heart-felt sincere condolences. Charlie was special in so many ways. A man of few words, but when he spoke, he "cut-to-the chase." A talented man who so freely shared his talents. My scrollsawing mentor, who always beamed when I showed him my latest project. A true friend, he will be so missed. We are sure God welcomed him with open arms. Cecil & Judy Brooks

Dear Sue and Family, I met Charlie when I joined the Kairos prison ministry. I remember the first training we had at Good Shepherd, Charlie took me to all the rooms that had wood designs he had created and showed me his beautiful wood work. Charlie wasn't very outgoing but if you wanted to talk about fishing he would talk with you for hours. His first talk at Kairos was on Choices, the room was quiet and was hanging on his every word. The holy spirit was with him and it was one of the best talks of the weekend. Our Kairos family will miss him but we are comforted by knowing that he is with our Lord and Savior. May you draw upon the strength of our Lord at this time. May the peace and love of our Lord Jesus be with all the family.

Charlie Corbin was our friend. He was a gentle, quiet man of God who had seemingly boundless energy for doing the things he loved most. Whether it was sharing his gift of wood working (we are blessed to have many pieces in our house), making cookies for Kairos and serving on the team, sharing his insights in Sunday School and Disciple classes, or just sitting at the lake fishing you knew how kind and special he was.
It has been our honor to know, take class with and serve in Kairos with Charlie.
We miss you Charlie!

Charlie was a kind man of few words, but great talent. He generously shared his woodworking skills and his creations with everyone. We own several of "Charlie's crosses" and a few wooden portraits of Christ. There are numerous smaller crosses on keychains, used as bookmarks and fan cord pulls. Many friends and family members own "Charlie's crosses." Each person prizes their precious cross.
Fishing was another favorite of Charlie's. His 'fish stories' were humorous and entertaining. I think that is the most I ever heard Charlie talk!
Charlie always had an ear ready to listen to your problems and perhaps offer a solution. He had all of the qualities of a wonderful friend. Charlie was such a gentle man as well as an example of a true Christian.
Though he is gone, Charlie will never be forgotten.
Sue, we know he will be missed as a husband, father and grandfather. Be sure that countless people have lost a dear friend. You and your family will be enveloped in our love and prayers.

My friendship with Charlie is something I will always remember and cherish. Such a truly humble man who always reached out to others. I'll remember his laugh, his smiles, and his generosity with his talents.
I was blessed to go through at least five Disciple bible studies with Charlie. He didn't talk much in those classes, but when he did, it meant something.
I also attended my first Emmaus weekend and two Kairos weekends with Charlie. This past spring, he gave a talk to the prisoners that I will never forget. As the first speaker, he was talking to a room full of prisoners who were not quite sure what to expect and were not ready to let their guard down. Charlie finished speaking and there was barely a dry eye in the room. He changed the lives of dozens of prisoners at the Davis Correctional Facility in Holdenville.
I can't count how many times Charlie said to me that he knew God must have had a reason for him to survive his stroke, but he just couldn't figure out what that reason was. It didn't matter how many stories we told him of the lives he had changed, he was never satisfied and he never quit searching for a new way for God to use him. That is a legacy we can all follow.
I love you Charlie. I'm sorry I didn't take you up on fishing trips like I wanted to, but I look forward to you showing me all the good spots you've picked out up in heaven.

Charlie did so much to make me feel welcome as a member at Good Shepherd.
When you're new to a church, friendly faces are few.
Always a gentleman, Charlie would talk, and more importantly, he would listen.
Always giving, he patiently helped me with my gourds, and shared not only his expertise, but his resources.
He was a treasure!

Sue and Charlie brought me home from church last Sunday and the last thing I said to Charlie was, "Thank you, Charlie." I also owe him other thank yous for the cross he made me, for the many other times he helped me in the car, buckle the seat belt, and did other little things to help me. "Thank you Charlie", you made my life better just by knowing you. Gloria Fisher
