Charles Dalio Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 5, 2014.
SPARTA -- Charles Bernard Dalio, 69, courageously ended a yearlong battle with cancer on Thursday, Nov. 27, 2014 surrounded by his family.

Born on Feb. 8, 1945, Charlie served his country as a Navy corpsman in Vietnam and was awarded the Purple Heart. A 30-year resident of Lake Mohawk, in Sparta, he retired as a lieutenant from the New Jersey State Police after over 20 years of service to build his own business in security and investigations.

In his leisure, he was involved in many local activities in support of his family. He served on booster clubs for Sparta football and wrestling and spent several years coaching GALS softball. He was also a member of the local Kiwanis. Through his life he enjoyed sports, boating, traveling and competing Arabian horses in Western pleasure with his wife.

Charlie is survived by his wife of 47 years, Anne Marie (Nancy); his son Marc, of Sparta; daughter, Joan, of Stockton; sister, Lorraine, of Owego; and two grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, Dec. 8, at St. Kateri Church in Sparta.

I just sadly learned of Charlie's passing. I had the privilege to work with him from time to time in a professional capacity. He was a consummate professional and he not only earned a Purple Heart but he possessed seemed to have a golden heart. My deepest sympathies to his wife and his entire family.

I just heard about Charles' passing. I worked with him at the Attorney General's office years ago in the Budget Office. Charles was one of the first troopers chosen to work at the Justice Complex with us civilians! He was the one person who always played pranks, made us laugh and was wonderful to have in the office. He was a good man to work with.
