Charles E. Druffel was born on December 7, 1947 at St. Mary's Hospital in Modesto, CA. He passed away on October 12, 2011 at his home in Modesto. Charles was the first born child of Eugene and Gertrude Druffel. He attended St. Stanislaus Elementary School and continued his education at Modesto High School where he majored in Art and German. He excelled as a sprinter on the MHS track team. In high school he received numerous awards for his artwork and received a first place from the Native Daughters of the Golden West. His sign "Don't step on Percy" stood for many years next to the MHS school mascot in the main hall. Charles graduated from Modesto Junior College in 1969 and briefly attended CSU Stanislaus. In November 1969, he enlisted in the Army. He received his training in the Signal Corps at Fort Gordon, GA and Fort Huachuca, AZ before being sent to Bremerhaven, Germany until his discharge in September 1972. Charles has worked for Gallo Winery for the past 20 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his siblings James (Tatiana) Druffel, William (Victoria) Druffel, Janet (Jon) DeChambeau and five nephews and nieces, Nicole Saavedra, Andrew Druffel, Garrett Wolford, Michelle Druffel and Bryson DeChambeau.
A Celebration of Life will be held on October 22, 2011 at the Franklin & Downs McHenry Chapel at 11:00 AM. Donations can be made in Charles' name to the American Heart Association, 1212 W. Robinhood Dr., Suite 50, Stockton CA or the Veterans of Foreign Wars c/o Henry Sicken, 1608 Wolverine Way, Modesto, CA 95355.

Charles and I were good friends and classmates at Fort Gordon, GA in 1970.

I worked a temp job with Charles at Pacific Southwest Container. I remember him as a happy-go-lucky guy with a real talent for art. He did a couple of sketches for me that I still have packed away.
I'm so sorry that I couldn't have re-connected with him sooner. My Deepest condolences to the family.

Charles, u n i had some pretty interesting conversation's when I worked at Gallo, it was mostly about the way the foiler's were running, most of the time BAD. (ha, ha) I really enjoyed working with u. Rest in peace, God Bless U.
