Charles Fahey Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 10, 2010.
TREMONT - Charles Francis Fahey passed away peacefully June 29, 2010, at his home in Bernard, after a courageous battle with ALS. He was born June 8, 1930, in Bangor, to Francis "Mickey" E. Fahey and Olevia Newcomb Fahey. He grew up in Carmel and Southwest Harbor, and graduated from Pemetic High School in 1949, where he was a basketball star. After serving in the Navy from 1950 to 1954, he lived in California working at Lockheed and Litton Industries on their LHA guidance system program. He married Anne Usiak, with whom he had two children. In the late 1970s, he was transferred to Pascagoula Ship Yard in Mississippi, later Northrup-Grummond, and then moved to New Orleans and worked as a financial analyst for Strategic Petroleum Reserve Department of Energy. He spent summers in Maine, moving back permanently in 2009. Charlie loved the outdoors: skiing, sailing, hiking, canoeing and fishing. He was predeceased by his parents; his sister, Myrna Fahey - Hollywood actress; and his brother, Michael. He is survived by his wife, Muriel Davisson of Bass Harbor; his daughter, Marianne Desyrae Krause Neff of Weaverville, Calif.; his son, John Charles Fahey and ex-wife, Anne Usiak Fahey, of Clackamas, Ore.; his grandson, Jonas Dane Krause of Weaverville, Calif.; his aunt, Mavis Weeks and her husband, Alan, of Carmel; special friend, William Lawlor; and numerous cousins. Memorial celebrations of Charles' life will be held later in the summer. In Charlie's memory, donations may be made for ALS research by contributing to the Charlie's Saints team, the Bangor walk for ALS Aug. 28, 2010, at www.alsanne.org.
