Cincinnati - Celebrating the Life of Charles "Charlie" Finney

January 12, 1933 - July 8, 2025

Charles "Charlie" Finney passed away peacefully July 8, 2025, at 92. Born in Louisville, Kentucky, Charlie lived a life full of love.

At 6'7" inches tall, gifted with a rich, warm voice, Charlie was born for radio, where his career first started, before expanding his talents into advertising, public relations, newspaper writing and voiceover work.

Charlie had a love for music starting with playing trombone at St. Xavier High School. He also loved opera and classical music.

He married Betty, the love of his life, on August 31, 1957. Together they raised seven children and shared over 60 years together. Since her passing in 2018, he has cherished the memories they made together.

Raising a big family required a good deal of patience, humor, and structure. He taught his kids the value of hard work by example.

Charlie is survived by his seven children: Chuck Finney (wife Lynda) of Keller, Texas; Clare Finney of Newport, Kentucky; Chris Finney (wife Diane) of Cincinnati; Celeste Bardash of Westerville, Ohio; Catherine Luzader (husband David) of Cincinnati; Angela Wray (husband Kelly) of Cincinnati; and Jeannine Dupler (husband Craig) of Gainesville, Florida.

He was also a proud grandfather to 19 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Charlie is also survived by three beloved siblings: his brother Jim "Bud" Finney (wife Ellen) of Nashville, sister Jane (husband Marty, now deceased) of Louisville, and sister Mary Agnes (husband Bob) of Louisville. He was preceded in death by his older brother Jack (wife Rosemary) and older sister Mary Anne.

A celebration of Charlie's life will be held Thursday July 17 at Guardian Angels Catholic Church, 6531 Beechmont Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio 45230. Visitation with the family at 9:30am. Memorial mass at 10:30. Stream the mass at https://venue.streamspot.com/event/NTg0MzU1OA==
