Charles Hirshey Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 24, 2025.
Charles Hirshey, known affectionately as "Chuck," passed away on June 22, 2025, in Fullerton, California. He was born on November 5, 1944, in Conneaut, Ohio, and lived a life marked by dedication to his country, his family, and his passions.

Chuck proudly served in the United States Air Force, embodying a spirit of service and commitment that remained with him throughout his life. His military service was a defining chapter that reflected his sense of duty and patriotism.

Beyond his time in uniform, Chuck found great joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was an avid bass fisherman who cherished time spent on the water. Whether casting a line at dawn or sharing stories of the one that got away, fishing brought him peace and connection to nature. He also had a deep appreciation for craftsmanship and detail as a model boat builder-an intricate hobby that combined patience with creativity.

Chuck is survived by his beloved wife, Cathy Hirshey; his son, Chad Hirshey; daughter-in-law, Maria Hirshey; and granddaughter, Makenna Hirshey. He also leaves behind his sister, Dr. Shirley Emin, and her husband, Dr. David Emin.

He was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Charles E. Hirshey (1998), and his mother, Marjorie J. Cameron Hirshey (1972).

Chuck's memory will live on through those who knew and loved him. May his legacy bring comfort and strength to all whose lives he touched.

Our condolences to all of Chuck´s family; especially sending our sympathy and love to Chad, Maria and Makenna. I have fond memories of Chuck from our years in The Ranch in Irvine, CA; many fun parties! RIP

Our fondest memories go back to the time Chad and our son, Patrick, were in Indian Guides together. He was the best at making fast cars for the Indian Guides Fast Car Derby but usually had to make numerous trips to the hardware store. We called those trips " trippers" and the cars with the less "trippers" usually won. To this day, anytime we have a project that requires multiple trips to the hardware store they are called "trippers ". Chuck is always in our life.
