We were very saddened to hear of Chuck's passing. My husband and I both took numerous History courses from him as students at Cochise College back in the late 1980s and 1990s. These were some of our favorite courses. In addition to being former students we enjoyed Chuck as a friend and spent a lot of time with him and the Munoz family over the course of many years. I remember when Chuck and Alvina showed up in his pick up truck with a mattress in the back under the camper shell and drove me to the clinic for an exam as I was not allowed to sit upright due to a complicated pregnancy. That is just one small example of how he and his family would be there for people in their time of need. After moving away from Douglas we all fell out of touch over time but always have thought of Chuck and his family fondly. Just two years ago Chuck helped our daughter who desired to teach English at the Junior College level by offering her a part time teaching job at the Cochise College Benson campus which paved the way for her full time job teaching now at New Mexico Junior College. Chuck supported, encouraged, and showed us kindness in our family for multiple generations. He was definitely a light in the world whose energy will remain for more generations due to all the lives he has touched. Thinking of this brings joy along with the sadness. We can't know joy unless we know sadness and we can't know sadness unless we know joy. Love to Alvina, Chuck's sons, and all his family. We love and miss the Munoz's too and wish everyone peace. Blessings to you all!
Love, Darcie and Tom Litwicki and Family

My sincere condolences to Chuck's family. I privately went to his gravesite to thank him for all the encouragement, trust, and motivation he so kindly gave me as a student. I continue to sigh in grief because when persons like Chuck pass away they leave a huge void not only with their families but in the community where he so lovingly served. We all loved, miss and remember a great man and human being. But now we all entrust Chuck to our heavenly Father, he couldn't be in better hands. As his son Patrick so well said, "it's not good bye, it's see you later".

Chuck was a wonderful man who deeply cared about and tirelessly advocated for his faculty, his students, and his community, generally - and, above all else, he was a man who loved his family dearly. Alvina, Casey, and Patrick: My thoughts are with you during this time of mourning. Condolences.

Chuck will be deeply missed. He was a great team mate and wonderful friend at Univ. of Az. I will always remember quail hunting with he and Jim. Very dedicated in everything he did, especially the game he loved so much. Baseball. Taken from us far to soon. Our best to the entire Hoyack family.
