CHARLES KAMMER Obituary
Age 91, of Plum Boro, died Wednesday, November 12, 2014. He was born July 30, 1923, in Sharpsburg, son of the late Charles and Virginia Swindell Kammer. He was a veteran of WWII serving with the U.S. Army, owned and operated a Gulf Station at the corner of 40th and Butler Streets in Lawrenceville for many years, and retired from Allegheny Plywood Lumber Company. He was a member of Christ's Lutheran Church, Murrysville, past master of Masonic Lodge #799, Plum Creek Lodge, and was a member of the American Legion Post #980 of Plum. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pearl Swartz Kammer in May of 2013. Charles is survived by a son, Dr. Charles L. Kammer III of Wooster, OH; a daughter, Sharon J. (James) Pfeiffer of Plum; six grandchildren, Nathan (Mandy) Pfeiffer, Dana (Pete) Yurisinec, Carly (Wes) Johnson, Nicole (Rob) Rung, Alec Kammer, and Mark (Andrea) Kammer; 13 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. Visitation 6-8 p.m. Thursday and 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at the HART FUNERAL HOME, INC., Murrysville. A service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Christ's Lutheran Church, Murrysville, with Pastor Wayne Gillespie officiating. Everyone please meet at the church. Interment will be private. If desired, memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
