Charles KNOX

KNOX, Charles Peacefully, with his loving wife and family by his side, Saturday, December 23, 2017, at the age of 92. Charles Knox Jr, of Manotick, Ont. Born to Charles Sr. and Annie (nee Murray) of Montreal, Que. Cherished and adored husband of Janet (nee Markey). Proud and loving father of Deborah Lantos (Peter) and Valerie Sirotek (Norman), devoted grandpa to Ryan (Sasha) and Adam (Beki) Lantos and devoted "papa" to Charles Sirotek. He will be remembered by four great-grandchildren, Ava, Savannah, Emelyn and Austin. Charles is predeceased by his five siblings Rita, Ronald, Audrey, Leo, Murray and sister-in-law Mary Lacelle. He is survived by sisters-in-law, Alice Knox (Late Ronald), Norma McManus (Paul), Joanne Houlahan (Late Roy), Donna Maheral (Allan) and many nieces and nephews. Charles was a WWII Veteran, having served with the Royal Canadian Navy and British Navy on the HMS Nigeria and HMS Jamaica escorting convoys during the Murmansk Run; he was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion in Manotick. Charles was an accomplished athlete; he played for the American Hockey League, with the Baltimore Clippers and Fresno Falcons. He retired from the Federal Government in 1985 and sold real estate with Royal LePage. Charles was an avid golfer and spent the last 45 summers enjoying his cottage on the St. Lawrence River, where he will be dearly missed by his neighbors and friends. He will also be dearly missed by the Gutierrez family of Maracaibo, Venezuela. Charles was a man of principle and strong character, a man of integrity and kindness, and a man as good as his word. He will be missed and fondly remembered by those who loved him and those who appreciated his friendship.
