Charles KOZACK Obituary

Published by Regina Leader-Post from Jan. 9 to Jan. 10, 2013.
KOZACK, Charles
A heart of gold stopped beating when Charles (Chuck) Kozack of Regina, SK passed away on Saturday, January 5, 2013. He was predeceased by his parents Kiprian and Katrina Kozack; sister Helen (Hazen); brothers Jacob and his wife Ruby and their daughter Gloria, John and his daughter Gaylene, Samuel and his wife Marge, Daniel, Wesley and Arthur; and nephew Ron Martin. Chuck is survived by his best friend and wife of 53 years, Patsy (Jolly); daughter Katherine; sons Kip, Jay (Barb) and Andrew (Daphne); grandchildren Stacy, Sharon, Shelley, Clarke and Katrina; great grandchildren Latrell, Sienna, Amion, Noah, Maci and Ava; sisters Nelly Martin and Mary Hazen; sisters-in-law Winnie, Shirley and Pauline; Patsy's sisters and brothers-in-law Genevieve and George Freeman, Marina Bell, Judy and Andrew Ottarda; several nieces and nephews; and his loyal companion Pepper. Chuck was born in Kayville, SK on February 26, 1937. He had many happy memories of growing up in a large family – poor by today's standards, but rich in love and sharing. Along with his six brothers, he enjoyed sports, especially baseball, hockey and curling. One of his favorite memories was playing in a curling game with his brother Wes and their hero Ernie Richardson. He skated every winter and at the age of 74 he could still skate faster than his young friends. He loved travelling and along with Patsy and family was fortunate to visit all the exotic places he had wanted to see. He was employed 31 years with Sask Power. Never one to be idle, he was a familiar face at the Silver Sage Casino as a Dealer and Instructor. He loved garage sales and gave away most of his "Treasures." During the last few years, he was an extra in several movies. He was thrilled to be in the film "Little Giant" Tommy Douglas film. He often said "Can you imagine getting paid to have so much fun?" Throughout his ordeal of fighting cancer and loss of hearing, he was an inspiration to everyone he met. We will miss him forever. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father and grandpa. He had a kind, generous, loving and forgiving nature. He loved all of God's creatures – even his well-fed squirrels had names. His zest for life never diminished. Most important was his love and faith in the Lord. We will forever cherish our memories of this true gentle man and thank God for having him in our lives. Special thanks and appreciation to Father Rodriguez, family and friends, Randy Shewchuk for making his Sundays so special, Gennie, Judy, Rena, Winnie and Nelly, his doctors and nurses and the staff of the palliative care unit for their dedication and compassion. We are truly thankful for the love and support we received by everyone. With respect to Chuck's wishes a Private Family Service will be held with interment to follow. A Celebration of his life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Chuck's memory may be made to Palliative Care Unit, Pasqua Hospital, 4101 Dewdney Avenue, Regina, SK S4T 1A5.
