Charles Edward Martin

Charles Edward Martin, a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother, departed this life to be with the Lord Jesus on August 17, 2018, at the age of 86. He was a resident of Greenwell Springs, LA., and was born on January 28, 1932, in West Monroe to the late William Grady Martin and Bessie Beatrice Jackson Martin. In his early years, he served in the Korean War where he was stationed in Japan as a Munitions Specialists. During the Korean War, he served as US Air Force ground support and loaded B29's. While stationed at Fairchild AFB in Spokane, WA, he met the love of his life, Agnes Mary Scallan, and married her on May 29, 1954. He worked and retired as an Operator at Celanese Corporation. He was preceded in death by his loving, caring and devoted wife of 59 years, Agnes Scallan Martin; parents; William Grady Martin and Bessie Beatrice Jackson Martin; seven brothers, William Howard Martin, Cleo Harbin "Punch" Martin, James Cherman "JC" Martin, Elvin Harvin Martin, Julius Long "Grub" Martin, Carl "Buck" Martin and Randy Martin; two great-grandchildren Garrett Matthew Whiddon and Mahya Leigh LaRose. He was survived by his beloved sister; Violet "Vi" Talley, four children; one daughter, Charla Pino and husband Donald Pino, sons; Thomas G. Martin, Sr. and wife Shavonne Martin, Carl E. Martin and wife Debbie G. Martin, and Mark E. Martin and wife Jamie G. Martin; grandchildren, Charles W. Martin, Christy Martin, Shannon Francis, Erica Whiddon, Thomas G. Martin Jr., Candice Wilkinson, Dustin Martin, Aaron Martin, Chad Martin, Michal Elizabeth Huber, Rachel Pino, and Corey Martin; great-grandchildren, Julianne Martin, Grant Whiddon, Emma Grace Whiddon, Noah Wilkinson, Ella Blair Wilkinson, Caleb Martin, Cali Martin, Hope Cortez, Bailey Martin, Julie Martin, Ember LaRose, Sophia Martin and numerous other living relatives. Visitation will be Wednesday, August 22, 2018 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA 70815. Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, August 23, 2018 at Greenoaks Funeral Home led by Rev. Steve B. Martin. Pallbearers will be his Grandsons. Interment will follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park.
