MCFARLAND CHARLES EMMETT "CHUCK"
Age 87, of Oakland, MD, passed away on December 24, 2010 at Cherry Hill Assisted Living, Accident, MD. Born June 5, 1923 in Vandergrift, PA, he was the son of the late Emmet John and Gertrude S. (Gumbert) McFarland. He was also preceded in death by sister, Madeline Anderson. Charles was a WWII Veteran, serving with the United States Army. He attended Carnegie Mellon, was a member of American Legion & Elks, Oakland Model Railroad Club and St. Paul United Methodist Church. Charles retired in 1984, after 33 years of employment as Vice-President of Machinery Sales for Blaw-Knox in Pittsburgh, PA. Surviving are his wife, Margaret (Robinson) McFarland, married August 10, 1946; son, Charles Christopher McFarland, Atlanta, GA; daughters Lisa Rowse, Jacksonville, NC and Jane M. Eboch, Fairfax, VA; grandchildren, Ian and Leslie McGarland, Melissa (Amato), Joshua, Michelle (Bell), Anna and Caleb Eboch and Quang Dam. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 30, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 318 East Oak Street, MD, with the Rev. Jennifer Johns-Gooding officiating. Inurnment of his ashes will be at a later date at Vandergrift Cemetery, Vandergrift, PA. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Garrett County, PO Box 271, Oakland, MD 21550.
