Charles E. McGuire Charles E. McGuire, age 90, a resident of St. Mary’s at Asbury Ridge died there Thursday, January 3, 2008. He was born July 3, 1917 in Halifax, Nova Scotia the son of the late Richard J. and Stella McFrederick McGuire. Charles was an outstanding athlete in high school having played both baseball and softball. He had worked in sales and as a Certified Public Account throughout the country including time in Chicago, Arizona, and California. He moved back to Erie a year ago to be near family. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Mildred and a sister, Theresa McGuire. Charles is survived by a son Robert McGuire of Ohio; a brother, Msgr. Richard J. McGuire of Erie; four sisters, Sr. Mary Rachael McGuire, SSJ of Erie; Ann Collier of Santa Cruz, Calif.; Irene Berquist of Hawaii, and Mary Jane Durlofsky and her husband Harold of San Jose, Calif. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to call at the John J. Quinn Funeral Home, West 9th & Liberty St. Sunday from 2:00 until 5:00 p.m. only and are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial Monday at 11:00 a.m. in St. Julia Catholic Church. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary’s at Asbury Ridge, 4855 West Ridge Rd., Erie, PA 16506 or to St. Julia Catholic Church, 638 Roslyn Ave., Erie, PA 16505.
