May 13th, 1929 - February 17th, 2025

Charles L. Munns, 95, passed away on February 17th 2025.

He was born to Cecil Ray Munns and Maggie Caldwell on May 13th, 1929 in St Joseph, MO. He lived a life full of love, adventure, and a sense of curiosity.

A proud veteran, Freemason, Shriner and most important to him, father.

Charles aka Chuck, served with honor in the Air Force, then known as the Army Air Corps. Deployed for the occupation of Okinawa and then the Korean War he came home for college and a career with the Department of Defense.

He thought it'd be a nice career without having to be in war zones. Little did he know he would end up in Vietnam on a project, Iran as it was being evacuated, or up the street getting lunch when JFK was shot. He finished his service to the United States participating in the rebuilding of South Korea into the powerhouse it became.

Beyond his service, Charles was known for his kindness, strength, and generosity to those he loved.

He was the Uncle that spoiled the nieces and nephews. Helped out with college and everything else. He was the father that fed the neighborhood kids. He was the ex husband that bought flowers for the kids to give. He fostered dogs and kept a few.

He had a great laugh, the type that fills everyone with warmth and joy. He could dance on roller-skates even at 65, backwards too. He won rifle shooting competitions. Had a champion GSD but raised us with rescues.

To the extended family a man of mystery. To his immediate family, dad, daddyo, or Chuck.

A Missouri boy who dreamt of seeing the world and having his own family one day. Boy did he.

Every room he entered felt his presence. Heads turned when "John Wayne" walked in. His sense of adventure was unparalleled. From swimming with sharks at night, riding motorcycles with a "Japanese motorcycle club", to hiking Mt Fuji, road trips...lots of road trips.

His list of adventures would fill up this page. His greatest beginning when he met the future mother of his children.

He is survived by his son Raymond and daughter Lisa who will forever hold onto the smiles, love, and laughter they shared. He was preceded in death by his older brothers Ralph and Marion, and his younger sister Joan.

Viewing will be private for close friends and family. Please call or text to request location.

Funeral will be held on March 7th, 2025 10:40AM at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery located in Boulder City. Send flowers to the house. He'd love that. Send some donations too, who says you can't do both. Donate to any veterans group, animal rescue, or children's education fund.

"Catch the ball"--Charles L. Munns

To the Munns family my deepest condolences for your loss. Your father was one in a million and raised two great kids to pass on his smile, laughter and kindness. My wish for you is for your sadness to turn to happy memories and the hurt to heal.
