Charles J. Overdorff, 84, of Homer City, died Wednesday, March 6, 2002, at Scenery Hill Manor Nursing Home, Indiana.

He was born April 6, 1917, in Brush Valley Township, Indiana County, a son of S. Quay and Carrie L. Rhine Overdorff. Mr. Overdorff lived his entire life in Brush Valley Township, where he was a farmer and where he was a representative for Eastern State Cooperative, now known as Agway. He attended Calvary Evangelical Free Church, Indiana, and was a member of the former Brush Valley Grange. Mr. Overdorff was an avid hunter. Surviving are his wife, Mary Jane Penrod Overdorff; two sons, David B., and his wife, Susan, Brush Valley; J. Scott, and his wife, Peggy, Brush Valley; a daughter, Amy L. Youssi, and her husband, Dan, Poway, Calif.; a brother, H. Glen , Brush Valley; three grandchildren: seven stepgrandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Kevin Lee; two brothers, Virgil and W. Boyd; two sisters, Lila Mae Empfield and Margery J. Funeral services were held Monday at the Brush Valley United Methodist Church with Pastor John Welch and the Rev. John Logan officiating. Interment was in the Brush Valley United Presbyterian Cemetery.
