Charles Pettifer Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from May 16 to May 19, 2009.

PETTIFER, Charles Owen May 2, 1930 May 13, 2009 It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Charlie, our dad and grandpa, in his 80th year. He was born in Birmingham, England. We are so grateful, Dad, that you came to Canada and raised us boys in Chilliwack. Predeceased by his lovely wife of 47 years, Patricia Mary and his beloved son Gregory. Survived by his 3 sons, Mark (Anne), Andrew (Margaret) and Patrick (Dee), his grandchildren Shauna, Patricia, Erin, Sean, Matthew, Simon, Liam and Emily and great-grandchildren Noah, Ethan, Riley, Kayden and Halaina. Charlie loved to fish the Vedder River and also had a passion for music, both listening and playing. Charlie was a musician, playing trombone in the Northumberland Fusiliers, The Royal Canadian Engineers and the Naden bands. The family thanks the staff at Victoria Hospice and Beacon Community Services. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Victoria Hospice. As per Charlie's wishes, there will be a celebration of life at the Royal Canadian Legion, Pro Pats #292, 411 Gorge Road, Saturday May 23rd, 2009 from 12:30 to 4:30. Charlie was a real charmer and still telling jokes right to the end . . . we will dearly miss him. 541383

Hey there .. Con Furey's daughter Kim, feeling a bond from our Naden years. It was my privilege to see him last week and have so much joy together, which I will keep in my heart always.

Please accept my deepest sympathies. Liam told me that Charlie died the same date that he met his wife Pat, few things make me go wow!

Charlie will always be special in my heart, a huge loss! My heart goes out to all of you, but especially Shauna, Patti, Andrew, Liam, Pat, Sean, Erin, Mark, Anne, Matthew and Simon.

God bless! Grandpa will always be proud of you all, he and Nanny have left their mark with leaving behind some very wonderful people - but now it's time to join Nanny and Greg!

A happy reunion of RCE members

Dear Mark and all the Pettifer family
I was very sorry to hear that you had lost your Dad. He was a great favourite of his fellow RCE Band member, my Dad Joe Slyth, who passed away last year at 93. Charlie came to his Celebration and I was very grateful. I have fond memories of Charlie and his great sense of humour.

It is with great sadness that I read of the death of your father, Charlie. I worked with your mother 'Patty' many years ago, and had the pleasure of meeting your father on several social occasions at the Victoria Land Title Office. Both of your parents very wonderful, kind people, and I shall miss them greatly. They are very lucky to have three fine sons to carry on their good name.
