CHULA — Charles Carson Petty, 67, of Chula died Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors with the Rev. Jimmy Odum and the Rev. Brantley Seymour officiating. Burial will follow at Oakridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors.Pallbearers will be Kevin Wildes, Steve Lowit, Austin Petty, Buster Mercer, Perry Conger, Gus Upshaw, Tommy Stone, Terrell Roberson, Sid Roberson, Gary Petty and Wade Hardin. Honorary pallbearers will be the employees and staff of Wendell Roberson Farms and South Georgia Ice Co.Born May 26, 1942 in Tift County to the late Charles Glynn Petty and Maggie Dillard Petty Hardin, Mr. Petty was a lifetime resident of Tift County and was the retired plant manager, after 36 years of service, from the ADM (MasterMix/Central Soya) feed mill. In addition to being a certified electrician, welder and millwright, he was a farmer who loved working the land, hunting, fishing and being outdoors. He also worked for Wendell Roberson Farms where he managed the South Georgia Ice Company. Mr. Petty was the owner of A and A Welding and A and A Golf Karts. He and his family were faithful members of Second Baptist Church where he previously served as Deacon Chairman. He will be remembered as an honest, hardworking man who loved his community and was devoted to his wife, children and grandchildren, who loved their "PaPa."Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Linda Flowers Petty of Chula; his children, Doug and Ruby Petty of Chula, Richard G. Petty of Valdosta, Tammy P. and Steve Lowit of Alpharetta, and Tracie P. and Kevin Wildes of Canton; his siblings, Shirley Miles of Tampa, Fla., Jean Slusmeyer of Eldorado, Gary Petty of Shreveport, La., Wade Hardin of Ty Ty, Wanda McMath of Ty Ty, and Jolain Luke of Tifton; his mother-in-law, Mildred Tucker Flowers of Tifton; his grandchildren, Austin Petty, Anna Petty, Maggie Wildes, Brooke Wildes, Sophia Lowit and Dawson Lowit; and many nieces and nephews.Online condolences may be shared by visiting albritton-beaumontfuneralhome.com. Condolences to the Petty family,from the Kailing family,he was truly loved and adored by our family,he will be missed by everyone he was a joy to be around my children always called him papa Petty,Ronnie thought the world of him and worked many days with him and enjoyed every minute of it,he has told us many stories and pranks they use to pull on one another,Ronnie always looked up to him as a father figure and loved him dearly as well as we all did our thoughts and prayers are with you through this sad time.rest in peace!!!!
