Charles B. Poindexter, 74; of PekinA memorial service for Charles B. Poindexter, 74, of Pekin, will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, at Scott Funeral Home's North Chapel, Jeffersonville. He died Sunday, Oct. 11, 2009, at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services. He was born in Burkesville, Ky., and was a retired mechanic.Survivors include his wife, Clara "Aggie" Poindexter, of Laconia; children, Charles B. Poindexter Jr., of Jeffersonville, Delia A. Blackerby, of Jeffersonville, Gregory C. Poindexter, of Bloomfield, Ronald L. Poindexter, of Jeffersonville, James E. Poindexter, of New Albany, Rose Shepherd, of Pekin, Mary S. Werblo, of Jeffersonville, Paul E. Poindexter, of Laconia and Faye Cox, of Georgetown; brothers, Lloyd Poindexter, of Jeffersonville, Eugene Poindexter, of Glasgow, Ky. and Neal Poindexter, Burkesville, Ky.; sister, Rebecca Pitino, of Tennessee; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie Frank and Delia Ann Poindexter; his stepmother, Sally Poindexter; brothers, James, Herman, J.P., G.T., Cloyd, Jessie Frank Jr., Marcus, and Carvin Poindexter; sisters, Mary L. Lindsey, Ruby Hurt, Allie Akin, and Patsy Poindexter; and grandson, Jason, Blackerby.Visitation will be at the funeral home from 2 to 8 p.m., Wednesday.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions in care of the family. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Cremation by Scott Family Crematory.
