Charles Preston Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 24, 2024.
Charles Aaron Preston "Chuck" "Charlie", 57, of Brewster, NY, passed away on June 10, 2024 unexpectedly. He was born on January 9, 1967, in Attleboro, MA.

From a young age Charles grew his love for Hockey. You could catch him watching hockey even if the Bruins were out of the playoffs! In 2015, Charles joined the Delancey Street Foundation where he turned his life around. With no surprise to his family and those who knew him, he became the head facilitator in his last years with the foundation. Although he ended his time with them, Charlie visited everyday and continued to find support in the program. Charles loved his job at Lisi's towing where he hauled heavy equipment. You could always find him going above and beyond and he considered his coworkers to be family. Charles grew his love for the state of New York and although he was miles away from his family, he always made a point to show up for them. His family was a big part of his life. Some of his favorite things to do were to fish and ride his motorcycle. Can you believe he would carry his fishing pole on that bike? just kidding although I wouldn't put it past him. He was an amazing cook, artist and comedian. Charlie knew how to make everyone laugh, and if they were not laughing, you know he would be. It was all in good fun and he meant well. He was quite the spicy habanero that he loved to eat. There wasn't anything Charlie couldn't do once he had his heart in it. He was determined to live each day to the fullest and enjoy his freedom.

He is survived by his father, Harold Preston, (wife Lori Preston) his son Nathan Preston Sr (wife Sarah Preston) , daughter Rachael Kelso, son Justin Preston (Fiancé Amanda Hiltz), daughter Sabrina Porter, and his grandchildren Kayleigh Preston, Nathan Preston Jr, Owen Preston, Katya Kelso, Jayce Howard, and Liam Preston. His sister Jessica Teixeria (husband Andre Teixeria), his nieces Tanesha Preston, Rose Teixeria, nephew Ethan Teixeria. His Aunt Valerie (Sissy), his girlfriend Mary Rullo.

Charles was preceded in death by his mother, Joyce Houde.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on 6/22/2024 at Delancey Street Foundation, 100 Turk Hill Road, Brewster, NY, from 12pm to 3pm.

I I can't believe he's gone. I only knew him as Charlie. I didn't know until now that he went by Chuck which is funny to me because Charles is my middle name and I went by Chuck all my life until I got clean and started using my first name Tom. Charlie and I spent a lot of time together at delancey Street. He got me through a lot of tough times when things seemed really bleak he found a way to get me out of my head and thinking straight again. We work Christmas tree lots together which was a blast that's what I really first got to know Charlie kind of outside of the delancey Street restraints to see what a truly good person he was and how much funny was to be around. We laughed and carried on so much for the 30 days on Christmas tree lights that I'll never forget it. He was also my department head for a long time as he was the head of supply and I was a supply driver pick up guy. Charlie was a truly special person who really cared about others even though he had a rough exterior he truly truly cared about people and was always trying to get things donated for the people at the delancey Street to go do to have some fun. Charlie spoke his mind at will and was never afraid to hold people accountable regardless of their position or stature. We had so many fun times he and I out on the weekends at delancey Street going shopping and just laughing and being stupid funny all the time. I never knew a person who could stretch a dollar better than Charlie. It's still so hard to believe that he's gone. I had just spoke to him a week before the accident he was giving me a hard time and a joking manner about doing things I was too old to be doing. Nothing bad just going to metal shows and hardcore concerts, enjoying life to the fullest while almost pushing 60 years old. He was one of a kind and I will miss him truly forever.

I'll miss you!! My first memory is meeting you and having you constantly wanting to steal my husband away to spend time with him!! haha. I really will miss your humor and the love you showed my husband, your son, and our kids. We will miss you beyond measure and wish you were still with us for many years and brings me so much sadness to know that will not come true. Much love to you and please watch over us all. <3.
