Charles Wayne "Charlie" Rudd

Memorial services for Charles Wayne Rudd, 44, of Balch Springs are scheduled for Aug. 1, 2009, at 3 p.m., at Laurel Oaks Memorial Park, 12649 Lake June Road, Mesquite.Charlie passed away July 23, 2009, after a brave battle with Glioblastoma (brain cancer) for four months and five days.Charlie was born on Dec. 23, 1964, in Dallas. He graduated from Athens High School in 1983. Charlie retired from the Athens Fire Department in December 2007 after 22 years of service as a Lieutenant.He was preceded in death by his father, Randall Earl Rudd, of Balch Springs; grandparents Clifton and Lucille Rudd, of Dallas; Dorothy and Bill Starnes, of Athens; George Beckner, of Murchison; and uncle, Murkel Wayne Rudd, of Dallas.Charlie is survived by his wife of 24 years, Liz Rudd; and two children, Tiffany Rudd and Eli Rudd, all of Balch Springs; mother and step-father, Marie and Steve Graham, of Athens; sister and brother-in-law, Ann and Jerry Hornsby, of Murchison; step-mother, Sandy Rudd, of Mesquite; brother and sister-in-law, Scott and Leslie Rudd, of Rowlett; sister and brother-in-law, Jill and Michael Gallops, of Rowlett; sister-in-law, Julie Everett and George, of Laredo; father and mother-in-law, Elisco and Argie Everett, of Alice; brothers in service of the Athens Fire Department; numerous nieces and nephews, aunts and uncle, and cousins.The family would like to thank Presbyterian's Dr. Barker, Dr. Strauss and Dr. Jackson and their staff along with Odyssey Hospice for the wonderful care they provided Charlie and his family. The family request that any memorials be made to the American Cancer Society or the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center.
