Charles Villegas Obituary
Salinas - Charles A. Villegas, 94 of Gonzales passed away Monday, May 21, 2018 in Salinas. Born November 30, 1923 in Mexico, Mr. Villegas lived in Gonzales for 72 years. He worked as a correctional officer for 30 years, and proudly served in the U.S. Army Air Corp.
Charles was a member of St. Theodore's Church Parrish, was the past post commander of the American Legion Post #81 in Gonzales. He also was a former Councilman and Mayor of Gonzales. As a retired correctional officer Charles continued in community relations with the Correctional Facility and the surrounding cities.
Charles is preceded in death by his loving wife, Marian who recently passed in February this year. He is survived by his sons, Bill (Sara) Villegas, John (Janet) Villegas, Robert (Terry) Villegas, Michael (Bob) Villegas, and Edward Villegas. He is also survived by his sister, Dora Gonzalez, 6 Grandchildren, Kevin, Kathleen, Aaron, Nicholas, Nicole, and Jason, as well as 5 Great Grandchildren,
The Family wishes to extended a special thank you to his care providers, Terri Ely, Tish, and Billy for their compassion and care to Charles.
Visitation and a Rosary was held Thursday, May 24, 2018 at the Healey Mortuary Chapel in Salinas.
The Funeral Mass will be held Friday, May 25, 2018 at 11:00 AM at St. Theodore's Catholic Church, 116 S. Beldon St., Gonzales.
Burial with Military Honor's will follow at the Gonzales District Cemetery.

Charlie, I'm sorry I did not get together with you over the years. You were the first person to help me when I started my career at CTF in 1970. You taught me how to be fair and impartial in my dealing with our charges and to deal with the politics of the Department. Thank you , you will never be forgotten. Michael Cisneros.
