Charles Walters Obituary

Charles D. Walters passed away August 24, 2010. He was born Sept. 20, 1922 in McCreary County, KY to James and Sarah Walters. He was preceded in death by both parents and 5 siblings. Charles served in WWII in the 1st Marine Division, 1st Battalion in the South Pacific for 3 years. After receiving a BBA from SMU in 1950, he entered the insurance business. In 1959 he received his CLU designation. After retiring he worked for the US Postal Service for ten years. Charles is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jeannine Boyd Walters, and children and their spouses, Pam & Ted Tedford, Jeff & Kari Walters, and Phillip & Mary Walters. Also surviving are 2 sisters, Jan Mosher of Boston and Irene Mitchell of Lake Kiowa, as well as 2 brothers, B.J. Walters of Midlothian and Donnell Walters of Royse City. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 PM, Sunday, August 29 at Sparkman/Crane Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held 10:45 AM, Monday, August 30 at DFW National Cemetery in Dallas. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the SPCA or a charity of your choice.

My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. Charles was a great man and I have fond memories of growing up next door to him. It was an experience! I remember he called me a rabboon as a child, and oh, the stories he could tell! He had a great sense of humor and he was a true hero. I'm glad I had the honor to know him.
