Auntie Thea and Jasmine,
We were all so saddened to hear that Uncle Charlie had passed away. To all of us, he was a much loved uncle, father, brother, and soldier. The stories he shared with me of my mother (Helen) and my dad (Harry) warmed my heart. Through Uncle Charlie, Uncle Bud, and Uncle Johnny, I have been able to learn more about our wonderful family. I also so enjoyed our many visits to the Legion and the Hub for an ice cold beer. And I told him, I didn't like beer, but he made me drink it...gallons of it. I am so fortunate to have had the opportunity to visit with him late last September. Even though he was ill, he had a warm smile for me. I will cherish the memories forever. Love, Bob

Uncle Charlie
Growing up as a kid on the farm I had my favorite uncles, John, Bud, Charlie, Edwin and uncle Bob. Uncle Charlie always had that great big smile and dressed so smart all the time. When I was younger a very special treat was to go to an Edmonton Eskimo football game with uncle Charlie and Auntie Thea.
When Uncle Charlie was district manager for Safeway he would stop and see me whenever he was in Red Deer at the gas station I ran during my college days. During the summer I would work the rigs or construction. During one of his trips we went out for supper and Uncle Charlie gave me a serious talking to about the direction of my future. The basics of which were you could use your brain instead of hands and make a good living. The eventual outcome of this lecture was that I quit the oil patch for good and went back to university where I completed 2 university degrees and earned 3 professional designations after graduation.
Over the years everyone was busy with there own lives and we only got together at weddings or other family functions. This was something special I looked forward to because Uncle Charlie with his big smile would be there shaking your hand or patting you on the back. He was always catching up on news of other relatives and was so proud when he heard that someone was doing very well in their lives or careers. Uncle Charlie definitely was a mentor to so many of us.
One thing we both had in common was that we were both die-hard Eskimo and Oiler fans. The last time I saw Uncle Charlie in the hospital we had our discussion about the Oilers and their poor play of late.
The most amazing thing about Uncle Charlie was that he never changed or aged. As long as I can remember him he always looked the same. Seeing him the last time just before he passed away was a big shock to me. He maybe gone but my many fond memories of him will be with me forever. My heart goes out to Auntie Thea and Jasmine who Uncle Charlie just adored.

To Bud, Thea,Jasmine andt all the Schaupmeyers.
Hello, we feel fortunate that we got to know and love Charlie from his visits with Bud in Vernon. It was always a good time wih lots of laughs, never a cross word. I envied the wounderful relationship of the two brothers. That makes it so much harder, when it comes to an end. Bud, Thea and Jasmine, we share in your sorrows.

Dear Dorothea.
Such sad news to hear of Charlies passing. I had no idea that he had been ill. Karey`s and my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this difficult time.
Karey & I often remember the wonderful times we all had together over in Hawaii, as well as the years we spent holidaying in Sun Lakes Arizona.
The golf games I had with Charlie & our mutual good friend Steve will always be remembered.
Bless you Dorothea
With Love Murray & Karey

For many years, Chuck and I lost touch. In these last few years we've gotten together again. It really has been great. Judy and I have spent many memorable moments with Charlie and Thea either in the backyard enjoying scotch and snacks, or at the occasional dinner gathering, and at our almost monthly beerfest at Boston Pizza. Uncle Charlie will be dearly missed, but we will always have the memories.

My dear brother Charlie and I shared so many memorable moments together. We enlisted together in 1941, served together at Seaforth Barracks in Vancouver, Valcartier Que, sailed from Halifax together, and spent our first two army "leaves" in the UK, with so many fun things to think and reminisce about When we sailed for France, and through some army snafu, we found ourselves on the same small craft. As we approached the shores, we stood together as we heard the first heavy bombardment from the Artillery, he said"I guess this is it, this is war, good luck brother" How can one forget such memories.
After the war, we went our seperate ways, but always managed to get together on a yearly basis, always sharing laughs and memories. Yes, Charlie, you were my friend..my brother, and I shall always remember you
Rest at Peace

To the entire Schaupmeyer family, I've lost one of my idols...Charlie was one of the finest people I've ever had the pleasure to know and I do not remember one minute of being around him when I did not have a smile on my face...my prayers and best wishes are with you...

Thea and Jasmine:
So sorry to hear about Chas passing away. Our good friend from Safeway, Jim Hunter called us in Calgary today with the news.
We had so much fun together in the old days with you and Charlie at all the SEA functions. Jasmine, your father always spoke so highly of you when we discussed our families.
We recall so many of the stories he told us from his days overseas in the " Diplomatic Core ". He was so proud to serve his country.
Chas and I had so much fun playing golf together when we lived in Red Deer and up in Edmonton at the Derick. We also shared lots of good stories about his favorite Edmonton Eskimos football team back in the 60's and 70's . A big highlight and memory of Charlie was when he along with Ray Melmock, Delores and I watched the famous Russia/Canada hockey series in 1972 when Canada beat the Russians, at our home in Red Deer.
Charlie was an excellent executive for Canada Safeway for many years and it was an honour and priviledge to learn from him and work with him over the years.
Thinking of you, Thea, Jasmine and all of your family at this time...Delores and John Whyte.
