MARIETTA, Ga. — Mr. Charlie “Bud” Strike, age 83, of Marietta, Ga., died Monday, January 28, 2008.Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Thursday at the Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Hiram with the Rev. Earl Schafer officiating. Burial will follow at Cheatham Hill Memorial Park Cemetery in Marietta. He will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service.Mr. Strike was born and baptized in Welch in 1924. He lived in East Point, Ga., for 27 years before moving to Marietta in 1986. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during World War II from 1942-1946.Mr. Strike worked for Delta Airlines for 40 years, retiring in 1989. He was active in many organizations through the years, including serving as President of the National Railway Historical Society and the Railway Museum in Duluth, Ga. He was a member of Delta Pioneers and the Holy Cross Lutheran Church.Survivors: wife, Jo Ann Strike, Marietta, Ga.; son: Tim Strike and wife, Cindy, Marietta, Ga.; daughter: Katie Chamblee and husband Larry, Birmingham, Ala.; two brothers: Joe Strike, Cheyenne, Wyo., George Strike, Bluefield, Va.; sister: Dorothy Carte, Toledo, Ohio; four grandchildren: Tracey Talley, Tracy Burris, Christopher Strike and Bryan Strike; five great-grandchildren.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Handicap Driveway Fund @ Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 76 Seaboard, St., Hiram, GA, 30141.The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday evening at West Cobb Funeral Home in Marietta, Ga., 770-419-9234.Online guestbook at www.westcobbfuneralhome.com.To leave personal condolences online, visit www.legacy.com.

Joanne,
I am so sorry to hear of Charlie's passing. He taught me so many things about life when I started with Delta 40 years ago. I will always remember him fondly for being so helpful and understanding with a young man that had a lot of growing up to do. You and your children are in my prayers.
